Chapter Eight

I looked down at the pill bottle in my hand moving it around watching the bright blue pills moving. It was finally going to be over. All of my pain from all her, from the people she married, from what happened over the last 4 years. I took a deep breath as I picked up my whiskey bottle taking a long swig of it. I can finally be happy. No one can hurt me now. I could go back to where I was happy, with my baby. I closed my eyes as I lifted the pill bottle up to my mouth ready to unload them into my body. I felt a hand grab mine making me jump, but another held me to the ground. “What are you doing?” I looked over to see Finnley looking at me in horror.

“I’m making it go away.” I tried to pull my wrist out of his tight grip. He wouldn’t let go. He yanked me back from the edge of the seawall pulling into his hard body. I took another sip from my whiskey before he noticed I had it.

“Where the hell did you get that?” He glared down at it as I shook my head.

“I just want it to end. I just want it all to end.” Fin shook his head taking the pills out of my hand.

“What happened?” He turned me around so I was looking at him. He lifted my chin gently turning it to look at my face. “Oh Baby, what happened?” I shook my head.

“Please, just let me end it.” I couldn’t cry. I had no more tears. I just stared at him.

“I can’t let you do that.” He laid his head on my shoulder. “Please let me help you.” I shook my head.

“I’m beyond help. I’m just a fucked up mess.” He gently took my face into his hands.

“Let me decide that. Let me help you. I can. Please don’t give up.” I whimpered at him as he rubbed my arms as a breeze hit.

“I can’t anymore.” I sighed. He shook his head.

“What about Matty and Danny? What are they going to think?” I shrugged. I haven’t thought about them. “It’s selfish.”

“I’m a very selfish person.” Fin shook his head as I took another gulp of whiskey. “Very selfish.” I could feel the alcohol starting to take effect.

“That’s not true. You are a great person.” He moved his hand looking at the blood on it. “What happened to you?” I shook my head putting on his shoulder.

“I hate myself. I just want to run away from it and never come back.” He rubbed my back.

“Is it Danny? Is Danny hurting you?” I shook my head.

“My mom is mean.” I closed my eyes as I lifted the whiskey up from another welcome burning gulp. “So, so, mean.”

“Shhh, it’s okay.” He kissed my head. “Give me the bottle.” I opened my eyes to look at him. “It’s okay.” I shook my head. “I’m here, it’s okay.” I handed it to him. He threw it over the wall making it splash as it hit the water.

“Are you going to protect me?” I slurred holding on to him. “Even from myself?” He held my head to his chest.

“Come on, let’s get you home.” I felt the shot of adrenaline as I stared up at him in horror.

“Please don’t take me back, please.” He blinked at me. “I’m begging you.”

“Shhh, I didn’t mean your house. Come on.” He lifted me up my trusting me to walk on my own. “You’re coming home to my house. It safer there.” He laid me in the front seat of the truck. I buckled myself in. “I can watch you there.” He closed the door walking around getting in.

“Why do you like me?” I asked him watching him as he drove away.

“I don’t know.” He sighed. He ran a rand over his shaven head. “I’m just drawn to you. You can’t go now.” He gave me a weak smile. “We haven’t even had our date yet.”

“You’re crazy.” I smiled at him. He winked at me. “Why were you out here at,” I looked at the clock, “1 o’clock in the morning?”

“I couldn’t sleep so I decided to go for a run. I saw you, I wanted to ask what you were doing out here at 1 o’clock in the morning.” He sighed. “Then I saw the pills.” I sighed looking out the window as we got to the gates.

“I was just being stupid. Stupid and drunk.” I coughed as we got passed and went in. “I regret it.”

“Are you just saying that because I’m here?” I shook my head.

“I’m saying it because I’m an idiot. It’s not the first time this has happened.” I ran a hand over my face and flinched as I felt the pain of the glass still in my skin. Z in going to pissed at me.

“I’ll get you cleaned up with we get back to the house.” I sighed wishing I had my bottle of whiskey. I could feel the pain from before finally hitting me as I groaned. My whole body hurts. “We’re almost there.”

“My drunk is wearing off.” I groaned. Fin ran his hand gently over my knee. “I wish my life was different sometimes.” Fin looked over at me. “I wish my mom loved me. I wish she cared about me. I wish she believed me.” I sighed closing my eyes. “But she doesn’t. I wish my baby was here.” I took a deep breath. “But he isn’t.”

“We’re here” I opened my eyes to look at him. “Come on, I’ll carry you.” He walked around the parked car and lifted me up into his arms gently. I hissed as he sounded my ribs. “I’m sorry.” He walked up the stairs pulling the door open as I wrapped my arms around his neck. “I gottcha, Baby.” I couldn’t keep my head up as he walked us up the stairs to his room. “Here you go baby.” He sat me down on the bed turning on the lamp.

“Thank you.” I smiled at him. He walked into the bathroom grabbing a first-aid kit.

“Let me get that glass out of you.” He pulled out tweezers and lifted my chin gently. “I’ll make it quick.” I closed my eyes tightly as he pulled out the little pieces of glass from my face as quickly as he could. “All done. Let me see your arms.” He lifted them up pulling out the piece of glass wiping the blood away the area as it pooled. He put the bowl down with the glass in it as he got out a bandage. “Almost done.” He finished off the bandage. He pulled out a t-shirt from his dresser. I pulled my shirt off slipping on the t-shirt ignoring Fin’s wondering eyes. I pulled off my jeans before throwing them on the floor pulling back the covers to curl in bed. I couldn’t help but smile as my body formed into the bed. “Get some sleep.”

“Where are you going?” I sat up quickly making my head pound.

“Hey, hey, hey I’m just going to take a quick shower then I’ll be back.” He tucked my hair behind my ear. “Stay here.” I lay back as he pulled a pair of boxer briefs out of the drawer. “I’ll be right back.” I pulled the covers over me as I closed my eyes wanting sleep to take me over. I woke to the feel of Fin curling up behind me pulling me to him. I turned over in his arms and snuggled back up to his chest as I fell back asleep.

“Finnley, Finnley wake up right now.” I heard Mr. Andrews hiss in the morning arm waking me up again. “Finnley Andrews!”

“What’s wrong Dad?” He groaned turning to look over at his father. I was curled up in the corner of the bed covered in the blankets.

“Get your ass up!” He rubbed his face looking at the clock.

“Dad, it’s fucking 5 in the morning! I just got off duty a couple hours ago what’s wrong?” He sat up staring at his father.

“Something happen at Danny’s. Ana’s gone, there’s blood everywhere. He doesn’t know what happened to her just that it looked like someone got killed.” Fin blinked wide eyed. “She’s not answering his calls and he’s scared her mother did something back to her.” I groaned stretching out in the bed turning over still in a sleepy state. “Finnley?” Mr. Andrews moved into the room as he looked over his son at me.

“I found her at the beach. She didn’t want to go home so I brought her here. I didn’t think.” Mr. Andrews took a deep breath.

“Son, it’s fine. I rather her be here than out there somewhere or worse.” He shook his head.

“Let me call Danny to tell him. Is she okay?” He nodded. Mr. Andrews pulled out his cellphone and dialed as I woke up.

“What’s going on?” I whimpered rubbing my eyes. Fin shook his head pulling me to him rubbing my back as I snuggled into his chest.

“Nothing to worry about, Sweetheart. Go back to sleep.” I hummed quietly before falling back into a restless sleep….

“She’s okay? I came home to see glass and blood all over the house and her room wrecked. I thought we were robbed.” I blinked waking up rubbing my eyes looking around the bed.

“She’s fine. I found her on the beach and took her here to sleep. She’s still asleep now.” Fin’s voice carried through my sleepy hung-over head.

“Thank you so much Finnley. I owe you.” I rubbed my eyes as the door opened. Fin smiled at me.

“I brought water and pain killers.” He handed me the glass giving me the two pills. I tossed them back swallowing it as my body ached. I looked over at Danny as he stared at him his eyes not leaving my face. I have to look terrible. I could feel the scrapes and bruises already. Danny’s phone started to ring. “I’m making us breakfast so bear with me while I try to make it.” I smiled at him as he winked at me.

“She’s right here.” I looked over at Danny as he stated at me. “Do you want to talk to her?” Danny handed me the phone. “For you.” He smiled at me. I put the phone to my ear.

“What the fuck is wrong with you?”
