I gasped in pain as both boys cried loudly. Taylor’s eyes where wide as he stared at me in horror. “Bailey I-” Dr. Halter pulled Taylor off his seat. The Sherriff pulled Derek out of the room.

“Out. Take the babies and get out.” Taylor looked at him as Dr. Halter picked up Conrad and pushed him into Taylor’s arms. He picked Fin up and set him on the floor as he cried. Taylor took his hand as Gladie led him out of the room. “It’s okay Bailey.”

“Bailey I’m sorry.” I squeezed my eyes shut in pain. Dr. Halter turned to Taylor.

“Get out.” Gladie pulled Taylor out of the room. He watched Gladie go back into the room. He sat down in the chair outside the door and cried.

“Ba.” Conrad said looking at him. “Ba.” He shook his head. Taylor looked at him the tears rolling down his cheeks.

“What are you getting at Buddy?” He said looking at the little boy.

“Ba!” He looked at the room I was in. “Ma ma.” He said his bottom lip coming out. Fin looked at him as Conrad clutched onto Gator like he used to.

“Shhh Mommy be okay.” He patted Conrad’s back as Conrad laid himself on Taylor’s shoulder putting his hands out and under him as he lay like a little baby. Conrad gave a baby sigh and closed his eyes as Taylor stared at him.

“She was right.” He whispered gently to him moving his big hand to gently stroke his soft hair. “Why did I argue?”

“Cause your Daddy.” Fin said climbing up the chair to sit on his lap. “Daddy want Mommy happy.” He looked down at his son.

“Daddy might have just lost Mommy. He might never get her back.” Fin shook his head.

“Mommy love Daddy.” Taylor kissed Fin’s head.

“I know. Daddy loves Mommy.”

“Daddy loves Mommy and Finny.” He giggled wrapping his arms as best he could.

“Of course. Daddy loves Finny.” He looked at Conrad as he felt a little hand on his face.

“Da.” Conrad looked at him before sticking his bottom lip out. “Da.”

“Daddy.” Fin said to him.

“Da.” He smiled at him.

“Yeah Conrad. Da.” Taylor looked up away from Conrad as Gladie walked out of the room I was in. She walked over to Mika and Jayden. “Did you call the ambulance Mika?” She nodded.

“They should be here in 5 minutes to take her.”

“Take her where? Where are they taking her?” Taylor said standing up making the three of them look at him. “Please tell me. She’s everything to me.” Gladie gave him a look of sympathy.

“Oh sweetheart.” She walked over to him putting her hand on his shoulder. “Bailey’s in labor.” Taylor’s face dropped.

“What have I done…?” Jayden looked at her.

“But I thought that’s why she was hooked up to that IV.” Gladie shook her head.

“Sometimes the medication doesn’t work. Sometimes baby’s just want to come meet Mommy and Daddy.” Taylor’s jaw wobbled at he stared at her.

“Where are they going to take her?”

“Naval Hospital Beaufort. They would be better at taking care of the little one then we would. We don’t have a NICU. They do.” Taylor nodded looking back into the room I was in.

“Can I….can I go in?” She looked back at Conrad and Fin now both in Taylor’s arms.

“Why don’t I take these two while you two talk alone?” He nodded kissing Fin’s head as he put him down. Fin put his little hand into Gladie’s before looking back at his father. He kissed Conrad’s head also making Gladie smile at him. He handed him to Mika who cradled him in her arms. “Don’t screw up.” She said in a very mothering tone.

“I won’t.” He sighed turning around and walking slowly into the room. Dr. Halter patted my hand and smiled at Taylor before walking to the door.

“I’ll let you two youngsters talk alone.” I looked up at Taylor.

“I’m so sorry Taylor.” I said weakly at him. My IV had two new medications I didn’t even know the names of. “I just put Itty Bitty to death.”

“Hey, hey, hey don’t think like that.” He said walking over to gently stroke my hair. I shook my head at him.

“It’s my fault she’s coming early. I shouldn’t have argued with you.” Taylor shook his head.

“You shouldn’t have argued because I should have just said yes.” I looked up at him.

“It’s both our faults?” He nodded at me giving me a weak smile.

“First time I see you in 2 months and we are arguing. It’s a story to tell all our kids when we are older don’t you think.” I nodded at him tiredly.

“Yeah. It will be one hell of story eh?” He leaned down to kiss me.

“I love you Bailey. I missed you so much.”

“I missed you too. You and Finn. Did you tell my Dad I was okay?” He nodded.

“He sends his love so does your Mother. They had to stay back with Dillon and Bentley. They took Cotton and Harley too.” I looked at him confused.

“I thought Harley was….” Taylor smiled at me moving a piece of my hair behind my ear.

“It was part of his training really. He was playing dead. He got a nasty shoulder wound but they Vet got it out and sew him up. He kept pulling out his stitches jumping every time the door opened but…” I closed my eyes as a tear fell down my cheek. “He misses you too Baby.” Taylor whispered into my ear as he leaned his head onto mine. I moved onto my side and held him close to me.

“I love you.” I sobbed painfully at him.

“I know. Shhh Baby it’s okay. It’s all over. See your back in my arms.” He cooed at me. He stroked my hair. “'Cause it's you and me and all of the people with nothing to do. Nothing to lose. And it's you and me and all other people. And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you. And me and all other people with nothing to do. Nothing to prove. And it's you and me and all other people.  And I don't know why, I can't keep my eyes off of you.” Taylor sang quietly in my ear stroking my hair as I stopped crying listening to the sound of his voice. Dr. Halter gently knocked on the door.

“The EMTs are here to take you Bailey.” Taylor made his move to get up. I looked at him in fear.

“Don’t leave me. Don’t make me get go please.” He shook his head.

“Never.” He said taking my hand as an EMT walked into the room.

“Promise?” I asked him as another EMT rolled in a gurney.

“I promise.” He smiled at me as the EMTs set the gurney up for me to get on. Taylor helped me sit up and walk over to the bed before I laid down on it. He put the IV in my hands as one of the EMTs put a blanket over my legs and put the strap on my legs. Dr. Halter wrapped a portable baby monitor on my belly before he pulled the blanket up.

“Everything is going to be okay Bailey. You’re going to have a baby soon. Really soon.” I nodded at him sadly. “They are going to bring you to a bigger hospital. So the little one can live.” I nodded squeezing Taylor’s hand.

“I hope I didn’t hurt Itty Bitty too much.” He patted my hand.

“It’s going to be alright okay.” The EMTs rolled me out of the room. Jayden looked at me from where he was holding Fin who had a sad look on his face.

“Mommy!” He said as he saw me. I smiled at him as Taylor squeezed my hand. “Mommy.” He reached for me.

“I’m sorry Kid. They can’t come.” The EMT said rolling me.  “I’m sorry we can’t take anyone who doesn’t need to go other than one other person.”

“Taylor what are we going to do?” I looked at Taylor wide eyed.

“I….I don’t know.” He said quietly.

“You drove here Taylor?” Jayden asked making Taylor nod. “I’ll drive behind you in your truck with the kids.” Taylor looked at me unsure of what to say.

“Take care of them Jay. They’re everything to me.” He nodded at me. Fin leaned down, with Jayden’s help of course, so I could give him a kiss before the EMTs rolled me out. They put me into the ambulance and locked in the gurney. I watched as everyone came outside to watch. Fin stared as Jayden held him while Conrad watched with a pout on his little face while Mika stared on with an emotion I couldn’t read on her face. Dr. Halter smiled at me as the doors closed. I looked over at Taylor. I was terrified right now. But he didn’t break his promise. He never let go of my hand the whole time….
