I woke up to the sound of my alarm clock going off. This homecoming is an early one. Early as in it’s 5 o’clock in the morning and the boys are getting in at 6 o’clock. I turned to look at it with a hateful look. I know I’m so happy that Taylor is coming home and all but I got to sleep only like 45 minutes ago after waking up from a nightmare an hour after I fell asleep. I sat up turning off the alarm before rubbing my face trying to wipe the sleep away from it. I looked over at Fin as I started to wake up more. He was curled up on the pillow fast asleep snoring lightly, just like his father would. I smiled at him before getting up before walking out to go take a shower. The door knocked making me rub my eyes as I went to open it. “Hey Bailey.” Dad whispered smiling at me. I nodded at him moving out of the way to let him into the apartment.

“Hey Dad.” I whispered as he hugged me walking in.

“How did you sleep alright baby?” He asked as we walked into the kitchen. I rubbed the back of my neck shaking my head.

“I slept terrible.”  He looked at me cocking his head to the side. “Do you think you can make some coffee while I go take a long hot shower?” I whispered rubbing my eyes.

“Yeah Baby go ahead.” I looked down.

“Will you get me if I take too long? I still have to get ready and get Fin ready too.” Dad nodded.

“I promise to make sure I get you out in enough time.” He smiled at me. “Dress warmly it’s going to be cold this morning.” I nodded walking into the bathroom turning the shower on. I closed my eyes as I stepped into the hot water letting it relax my ever so tired body. It woke me up alright. I washed my hair and did everything else I needed to do before getting out into the cold bathroom air. I wrapped one towel around my body and another one around my wet hair. I walked over to the sink brushing my teeth and combing my hair. I walked into the bedroom pulling on my bra and underwear before pulling on my favorite warm jeans and a long sleeve shirt before a short sleeve shirt. I walked out into kitchen as Dad lifted up the coffee he made me.

“Thank you.” I smiled at him taking a long drink. “Good job Dad.” He smiled at me as I looked over at the clock. “I need to get Fin ready to get Taylor.” I said putting my coffee down and made my way back to my bedroom. I sat on the edge of the bed and rubbed Fin’s back. He woke up a couple times last night too so I know he is super tired right now. It was a good thing that Taylor was coming home today; well other then I miss him so very much. I pressed my lips to Fin’s head trying to wake him up. “Come on Buddy. It’s time to wake up.” He opened his eyes a crack before starting to cry. “No don’t cry baby we have to go get Daddy.” He closed his eyes again still crying. “Alright come on Baby I’ll get you dressed.” He lifted his arms as I wrapped my arms around him lifting him up holding him close to me as he cried. I know he was so tired if he was crying because he doesn’t cry for no reason, he is a happy child usually.

“Everything alright Bailey?” I look over at Dad as he stood in the doorway looking at me.

“Finley is tired.” I frowned getting upset to I couldn’t stop his crying. I looked down at him rubbing his back as I cradled him in my arms trying to just put him back to sleep. Dad walked into the room putting his hand on my shoulder.

“He is young let him sleep. Get him dressed in warm clothes and Taylor can wake him up when he gets home.” I nodded kissing his forehead as he fell back asleep. “Do you want me to make him anything?”

“Can you get him a bottle full of apple juice? He will want it when he wakes up it will calm him down because he is going to be cranky today.” Dad nodded as I got off the bed I walked over to his room. I got out the outfit I picked him out last night when I couldn’t sleep. I took off his pull-up and changed him into a diaper as I knew he wouldn’t be happy at all today and it would be easier on me and him if he was in it. I pulled on a pair of sweatpants and a long sleeve t-shirt before pulling on a sweatshirt for him. I wrapped him up in his fleece blanket before wrapping him in a quilt. I gave him his blanket that he gripped on and pulled it up to his face as I pulled the blankets snuggly around him.

“Bailey you ready?” Dad asked walking into Fin’s room.

“Yeah can you just hold him while I go get my hoodie and jacket?” He nodded.

“Sure, sure hurry up you don’t want to be late.” I smiled at him as I ran to the closet pulling on my hoodie before my jacket. I picked up Fin’s diaper bag and threw it over my shoulder before taking Fin from Dad as I slipped the two bottles into the bag.

“Ready?” I asked the nerves starting to really catch up with me now.

“Yeah come on lets go.” We walked out closing the door before going to the truck in the parking lot.

“Oh man it is cold out.” I shuddered as I pulled the blankets closer to Fin to keep him warm before I put him in his car seat blankets and all. I sat down in the passenger pulling on my seat belt as Dad got into the driver’s seat and starting the car. I watched the trees and houses go by as we got to the crowded parade ground Taylor was coming home on. I got out of the car after Dad parked into a spot. I put the diaper bag on my shoulder before closing the door and walking around to grab Fin and cradled him to me as he slept with a pacifier in his mouth. I kissed his head as we made our way to where the boys were coming in.

“He’s almost home.” I nodded as I stood watching where the guys would be coming from; waiting for the white buses that took him away to finally bring him home. I must have stood there for what felt like hours but when I opened my eyes it was only minutes. I looked at Dad as Fin started to wake up crying making the people around us turn to look at me.

“I’m sorry he didn’t sleep good last night.” I got the bottle out of the bag and gave it to him making him stop crying and look at me and Dad as we stood waiting for Taylor. I pulled the blanket tighter once again to Fin’s body to keep him warm. I heard the yelling making me look as those plain white buses pulled up into the grass making the noise level rise beyond belief. I held fin tightly to me as the marines walked off the bus calling the orders of the commander. I scanned the group of marines looking for Taylor and Skylar in the line. I looked at Dad as he pointed to where they were because I missed him while I scanned.

“Marines, go find your families.” The voice yelled making the marines brake rank to run into the crowd. I looked for Taylor as he looked around for me.

“Taylor.” Dad yelled when I didn’t say anything. Taylor’s head snapped towards us as I broke into a run to him.

“Bailey.” He stopped right in front of me looking at Fin as he guzzled on his bottle looking at me. Taylor pulled my head to his making me kiss him. I wrapped my free arm around him holding me to him. He pulled back and looked at me as the tears rolled down my face. “I love you.” He whispered putting his hand on my cheek.

“I love you too Hollywood. I love you so much.” Taylor looked down at Fin.

“Hey Buddy.” He smiled moving the blanket out of his face as tears ran down his face. Fin raised his arms to his father making me smile at him. Taylor picked him out of my arms blankets and all. Fin dropped his bottle making me bend down to get it as he held onto his father. “I love you Fin.” He kissed him before pulling me into the hug.

“You are finally home.” I cried into his uniform shirt. He held me.

“I am. Baby I am.” He whispered kissing Fin’s head and mine. “I’m finally home.” He whispered to himself finally believing it himself.
