The guys left not long after breakfast and my sister arrived not long after that. I was sitting on the counter laughing with my mother as we worked on the green beans for dinner. My sister walked in with my nephew and I smiled at the sound of his voice. I slowly lowered myself off the counter and moved to the enterance to the kitchen. I felt myself engulfed in a hug from my knees down. I bent down and hugged my nephew tightly and gave him a kiss on his cheek.
"Hey little man, I missed you guy. How are you?"
"Good. Missed you." His words were so much clearer than I remembered, and it made me smile more.
I put my hands on his shoulders and smiled at him. "Can you stand still for a second little buddy I want to see how much you have grown."
I ran my hands over his face and felt the differences in the shape. My eyes got wide at how tall he had gotten in the time I had been away. I smiled again and hugged him tightly. "I love you sweetie. Sorry Aunt Mara was gone for so long. I will come back more, I promise."
"Kay." He ran yelling for Tori and Teagan and the noise level in the house rose three fold. I felt a hand on my shoulder before my sister hugged me tightly.
"I have missed you Mara, so much." I heard a catch in her voice and I hugged her close to me.
"I missed you too Mel. I am so sorry it has taken me so long to come home." I held her tighter to me and smiled, I finally felt home at last.
I heard her sniff as she pulled back from me. "I am going to take the kids for today so you can go shopping with mom, but I want to spend time with you tomorrow so mom is babysitting for us both."
I nodded my head. "That would be good Mel, you and I have a lot to talk about and a few things we still haven't talked through."
She sighed. "You're right we do, but for now have fun with mom today and enjoy. You really derserve it. Rick is a great guy, I got to talk to him for a little bit yesterday and he was amazing. I mentioned your name and his eyes lit up. Hang on to him girl and I hope he makes you happy."
I nodded. "Oh Mel, he does, he really does. I just wish I could give more to him than I am now."
She patted my shoulder. "You are who you are and that has always been enough. Now get going you and mom don't have much time."
I felt her quickly move away from me and I stumbled a bit, but regained myself quickly and moved back towards the kitchen to counter. I moved to finish the green beans to find they weren't there anymore. All of a sudden the house was silent and I felt disoriented. I placed my hand on the counter and took a deep breath, I put my head down between my legs to get the nauseated feeling to go away.
I heard a gasp and felt arms surround me. "Oh baby I am so sorry. I didn't think, I am so so so sorry."
I held up my hand. "Momma don't worry I just got a bout of vertigo. It happens, just breathe Momma."
I reached into my back pocket and noticed that my guide wasn't there. I felt lost for a minute until I heard claws on my mother's tile floor.
"Molly, on duty. Can you take me to the room to get my socks?" I felt Molly start to move and I stayed in step with her perfectly. She had me at the door and in the room in no time and in. I grabbed my socks out of the bag I left by the bed and stood up. "Molly, front door and grab my shoes."
I waited for a few moments and then felt them dropped in my lap. I leaned over and kissed molly's head before I put them on. I gasped as I thought, I tried to remember if I brought Molly's service gear so I could take her with me into the shops my mother wanted to go to.
"Molly get your gear." It was worth a shot in my eyes, if anyone would know where her things are it was Molly. She came back a few minutes later with her halter and short lead for me to put on her. I normally didn't do it because I felt like it restrained her too much, but she knew that out in public in new places there was a need for it. I harnessed her up and attached her short lead to her and then went back into the living room.
"Mom, Molly and I are ready to go." It didn't take long before I felt my mother's hand on my shoulder.
"Good so am I, so let's hit the Mall." She laughed as she walked out the door. I let go of Molly's lead and smiled.
"Molly get my things please then head out." I felt my purse in my hand first and put it on my shoulder next came my keys and my cell phone just slightly wet. I wiped it off on my pants and attached it to the holster I had put onto my purse. Molly and I then walked out the door where she proceded to guide me to my mother's truck. I opened up the door and let Molly into the back seat before I hopped in myself. I forgot just how tall my mother's truck was and the climb was horrendous but I made it with a bit of effort.
We were off then, a 30 mile trip to the mall of horrors to do the one thing I really despised... Shop.
