I remember my first combat defense duty. It was in a rail yard, we had two valuable supply crates there. One morning we heard a siren go off, it was an intruder alert. A team of Communist soldiers had come to destroy our supplies. The officer in charge of the rail yard reminded us that the Fuehrer will be expecting great results since we were the most elite units in the SS. There were six of us at the start of the battle. In the end there was only me and another soldier. We all started out fast, quickly moving to defensive positions and the snipers trying to find a good field of view. I ran straight towards the roundhouse which was in the middle of the complex. Instead of going inside I stayed on the outside nearest to our side. I saw somebody running to supply area A and fired a burst from my STG 44. It killed him and I saw him die I was wondering if he was involved in the raid on the German village. I thought that somebody might have seen me take those shots and sure enough as I began to move around the corner a Russian soldier came charging at me! I didn't have time to aim in the scope, so I just fired from the hip and soon enough the Russian fell dead. I met up with another SS soldier and he told me that the Ruskies have brought c4 to supply B near the big warehouse. So we quickly ran to the warehouse and saw two of our dead soldiers.
I told myself that from now on I will kill ten Russians for every dead German. As we moved towards the warehouse I saw two Russians running away from the supplies. They must have planted the bomb, I thought to myself. I quickly put the scope to my eye and lined them up. I fired a long burst killing both Russians. I immediately went to the bomb while my partner checked the area looking for anymore alive Russians. I defused the bomb and we sent a radio message to the commanding officer telling him everything from the results of the raid and the casualties. Four of our men had been killed but all six of their raiders had been killed. The officer told us that we were going to be relieved and that we were going to get a chance to get back at the Russians for their actions in the village outside of Berlin.
