Chapter 10: Into the darkness
Phillip sat there throughout the night, rifle tightly clenched within his tiny arms. He couldn’t stop starring at his father who lay there in a pool of blood. The gunshot pierced his head which sent a spray of blood around the campsite. He just lay there lifeless, and didn’t move without a sound. “Why did I have to do that grandpa?” Phillip was whispering into the darkness as he wiped the tears from his face. But behind the tears was a smile. As little Phillip Burns stood up into the cold misty night he outstretched his hand and began to walk into the woods. The moonlight gleamed brilliantly of the pool of blood surrounding his father, as it seeped into the ground like so many other things before Little Phillip slowly began to fade out into the misty night, “So where are we going now grandpa?”
