Chapter 5: The good life
Tom never spoke about his past, probably because he didn’t remember anything about it, but he was told he was better off leaving those demons in the closet but even demons can’t sit still for ever.
Janet loved her life; she really thanked God for every passing moment her husband was home, he helped out with the dishes he spent hours teaching his son Phillip the tricks of the trade. “You need to learn to be a man soon son! I will teach you all you need to know you can be my little apprentice.” Phillip smiled at this he felt important and he didn’t want to let his father down.
“That’s a great idea Tom, I’m so proud of you.” Janet planted a kiss on his forehead before retreating back into the kitchen. “I think it’s time for little Phillip to enjoy the best the great outdoors has to offer.” He returned the kiss before breathing out heavily. “Gosh I can’t remember the last time I went camping.” Suddenly the shattering sound of a kitchen plate broke against the tiles as Janet froze in place. “Honey is everything ok?” Concern Broke through Tom’s face as she quickly turned back to her husband and snapped back at him. “How many times do I have to tell you Thomas? You have never been camping before in your life, now drop the fucking subject and maybe you shouldn’t take Phillip camping!” Tom stood frozen in place as he laughed sarcastically as he noted the unusual contradiction in his wife’s words. “But.. You just said I should..” the sudden interruption made him jumpy as he felt uneasy being in the same room with his wife. “Just drop the fucking subject ok Tom!”
