Chapter 8: Into the mist

Tom awoke abruptly to find an empty sleeping bag alongside him. Panic suddenly began to cloud his mind as he searched for a flashlight. Amidst the darkness Tom saw his son standing facing the mist filled woods. Tom didn’t know what the hell was going on as he pulled his son into his arms before spinning him around to face him. “Phillip what on gods earth are you doing?? What were you looking at?” Tom’s heart was running a marathon, but Phillip just smiled and began walking back towards the tent. “Phillip, answer me! What were you doing?” Phillip continued to walk back as he began to unzip the tent. “Relax dad I was just saying bye to grandpa.” With that Phillip vanished back into the tent.
