“He’s god”
“He’s amazing”
“He’s good-looking”
“I’m not gay”
“You don’t have to be”
“He dresses as a girl”
“He sounds like a man”
“He’s god”
“Shut up”
I dropped my head into my hands and rubbed heavily on my eye lids. It was the last lesson of the day and the teacher was late – as usual. In any of lesson I wouldn’t care- but one, this was art, and two, I sat next to Liam Johnson in this lesson. Liam Johnson is big on rock, crunk and anything that isn’t pop; he’s also big on drilling me every afternoon about how much in love he is with Jeffree Star and various other transsexuals. Once he even branched out into telling me all about how much Geoffrey Paris rips off Jeffree Star, which I couldn’t care less about. Liam Johnson is also bisexual – and not at all shy about it. I don’t mind that he likes men, it’s just when him and his boyfriend are up against your locker making out; there’s usually a problem. What annoys me the most is that he is the singularly biggest poser I have ever met. Always decked out in three-quarter length shorts, and AC/DC t-shirts, dog-tag necklaces and band bracelets, he even tried a bit of eyeliner and dying his hair wild colours; his current hair colour being electric blue.  Also; his tendency to refer to himself as a rocker was just sad, in my opinion anyway.
Please save me, god.
As Liam opened his mouth to start another conversation – probably about Eddie Izzard- the art teacher walked in and I sighed in relief, straightening up. He set us a project – as he did every two weeks, and asked us to draw someone we saw as an Idol.  He wanted us to paint it and have it in by the deadline which, obviously, was two weeks.
I slid from my seat and along with the rest of the class collected a canvas; the teacher then left us to our own devices, hinting that they should spend the remaining 20 minutes planning. Taking his advice I took some A4 paper from a draw in the corner of the class-room and returned to my seat, writing ‘Idol’ in bubble writing and surrounding it in a cloud.
Who was I going to draw?
Glancing at Liam next to me, it took no stretch of the imagination to know what name was drawn in a massive, slightly obsessive heart taking up half his A4. The art teacher strolled round the classroom; talking as he went.
“Someone in your family, a friend, someone from a movie, a book, or maybe a band, someone you idolise” he told us, giving ideas to students who struggled. “Jasper?” I snapped my head up at Mr Kane’s voice; he stood next to me, looking down at my literally blank paper. “Struggling I see?”
“Yeah...” I answered, looking straight down at my paper, fearing the inevitable questions.
“What about someone in your family?”
“There’s no-one I look up to in my family” I mumbled, not even looking at him. He must know that by now.
“A movie?”
“I don’t watch TV”
“A band? There must be some musician you like, every time I see you you’re plugged into your iPod” I paused at this.
“There we go!” exclaimed Mr Kane, patting me on the back then turning  to see what Liam had written on his paper.
What bands did I like? Millions of names came to me instantly, I shut my eyes; what bands did I really like? What bands did I know every single song lyric too?
Then my eyes flickered open, a small smirk lingering on my lips.
Was it really that obvious?
