Chapter Sixteen

“GO TEAM!” Rowan screamed along the crowd as we watched the soccer game. “God Braden looks so freaking hot running around the court, sweating and so focused I might jump his bones,” Rowan said, taking a sip of her Coke.

I rolled my eyes and turned to look out at the court. The tournament thing had begun today and the excitement was ever present during the ten or so minutes they’ve been playing already tied.

I looked out for number 7 and spotted him full concentration in the ball, like his life might depend on that single object. I’m not going to lie it was an incredible turn on. “It is a major turn on Ro, but I think you’re overdoing it.”

She laughed. “Babe if you’ve ever seen his abs you would understand I’m not,” she said pointedly as a woman with two children stared at us.

I blushed and looked at the court as Logan started running. I saw how Braden got the ball and passed it over to Logan, he caught completely flawless and ran for it, dodging his rivals gracefully and strikingly. He was like lighting, deadly, empowering and over all beautiful.

“GOOOOOOOO LOGAN!” Rowan screamed at the top of her lungs and I laughed. “NUMBER FOURTEEN YOU ARE HOT!” she continued to scream earning herself some laughs and some dirty looks from the families around, but without a care in the world she continued to scream.

Logan scored and the crowd roared up, all of us a single scream of victory and support for the team at the court, while the other side booed them.

“Your boyfriend is quite the superstar,” Rowan winked and I giggled.

“He is,” I grinned as I looked over at him and his victorious smile.

Rowan and I watched the game, she screamed her lungs out while I smiled when Logan scored or got this look of pure happiness I’ve only seen on him once in a while. Once after our first kiss and the second time after I’d met his family. It was there printed into his eyes, if not in his lips.

Mid-time came and people relaxed a bit into their chairs as Rowan took a big gulp of water. “God, at this rate I’m going to be aphonic by the end of the game.”

I looked up at the sky. “Thank you God for such wonderful gift.”

Rowan shoved me and stuck her tongue out at me. “Shut up Cassie.”

I shoved her back. “You shut up Vicky.”

She grimaced. “Vicky. Ew.”

I laughed as my phone went into an erratic round of beeping and vibrating. I got a dirty look of a dude behind me and picked up real fast.

“Hello?”

“Hey Ave,” Logan’s voice greeted me cheerfully.

I looked around the field for him and when I found him beamed. “Awesome game so far.”

“Yeah, I thought so too. So after the game just you and I, okay?”

My lips stretched wider, it almost hurt to smile this big, almost. “Okay, no parties though.”

He laughed. “No parties, I promise.”

I nodded. “So I’ll see you after the game, I guess. Oh and Logan, I think you look incredibly hot out there in the field,” I told him and hung up my cheeks probably a bloody red after what I just told him.

Rowan laughed out loud by my side, probably having heard me. “’Oh Logan’” she mimicked.

I rolled my eyes. “Grow up Vicky.”

She mocked glared at me, but apparently the situation was too funny to stop laughing since she started again.

*

“Hey,” Logan kissed me briefly in the lips after they’d gone back to the locker rooms.

He smelled of shampoo and clean as well of exhaustion and a little bit of exhilaration. That’s right they had ended up winning four against two.

“Hey, good game,” I told him confidently placing my arm around his waist.

He smirked. “Sure you were concentrating in the game Ave?”

I hit his abs playfully. “Of course I was Logan Trainor,” I stuck my tongue out at him.

He chuckled. “You look so adorable when you do that.”

I blushed as I heard someone moan over our backs. Probably Braden and Rowan.

“So are you ready for our date?” he asked.

My eyebrows shut up in a question. “So a date? Where to may I ask?”

“The Restaurant,” he winked. “Apparently someone’s got something for their sick burgers.”

“Hey, they are the sickest burgers I’ve ever tasted so far and I’m pretty darn sure no others can equal. So show some respect to the burger.”

He tried not to laugh. “Okay, I’ll show some respect to the burger.”

I tried hard to keep a straight face too, it did sound quite funny. In the end we looked at each other and burst out laughing.

“So the burger is now worthy of respect, is it?” Logan asked once we both had managed to calm down.

I nodded. “Totally worthy of respect Mr. Trainor.”

He grinned at me and kissed my nose. “And you’re totally worthy of my kisses Ms. Watson.”

I beamed and kissed his cheek. “You betcha.”

Logan placed his hand in my back guiding me to the mess that was The Restaurant, after all it was Friday night and a busy one at it.

“Here’s your table,” a shortish girl with an open smile and brown eyes signaled to one of those tall tables with tall chairs and all for two.

Logan smiled at her and the girl beamed back. I really couldn’t blame her he had an awesome smile.

Logan pulled my chair out and waited for me to sit, winking as he went to his own chair. He had been staring weirdly at me all night.

“What Logan?” I demanded.

He shrugged. “Nothing Avery, I just think you look gorgeous tonight.”

I blushed. “Thanks. You look happy, too happy.”

“Soccer does have that effect on me. It’s like books for you, I think I’m starting to code through that. I imagine it feeling something like out there in the field I can make of what the coach and the team discussed talks a bit of my own, something that’s set down but it’s still up for my little modification. That’s kind of how it feels for you, isn’t it?”

I smiled. He had got that right. “Yeah, something like that. I can still make those words my own and change them even if it is just in my way of imagining of predicting.”

He smiled one of the most gorgeous smiles I’ve ever seen in him and I found myself beaming back.

“Hello I’m Jem may I get you something to drink?” Jem asked us brightly and I giggled.

Logan shot me a questioning look. “Avery?”

“Sprite please and send Giovanna my greetings,” I told him.

He smiled. “You know her?”

I nodded. “My cousin.”

Logan cleared his throat. “Um I’ll have plain water, thanks Jem.”

Jem nodded and walked away. He was kind of good looking, Giovanna’s type certainly. Tall, with blonde hair and a muscular frame, certainly an athlete.

“I’m not you Ave, I do get jealous,” Logan whispered.

I looked at him. What in the world could he possibly mean? “Huh?”

He shook his head and leaned over the table to kiss me. “Never mind gorgeous.”

Our dinner progressed calm as ever and when our hamburgers were being brought Logan and I burst out laughing just from seeing each other while Jem shot us a questioning look, proceeding to smile and tell us to enjoy. We certainly did.
