Chapter Twenty Two

“Two cokes please,” Rowan told the guy behind the stand and gave him some money don’t even hearing the price and turning to me. “So are you ready to watch our guys look as sexy as they can get?”

I grinned. “Sure.”

Truth is I was looking forward to see Logan out there in the field and that look of elation in his face, not to mention how sexy he looked sweaty and running away as for the scoring, well let’s not talk about it.

“Here,” the same guy said and handed Rowan her change and the cokes.

“Thanks,” she told him, handed me one red can and taking the other. “I really do hope that coach of theirs knows what he’s doing this time.”

I laughed. “Logan did tell me about your trespassing the limits and telling the coach how to do his work.”

She snorted. “I was just pointing out some strategies he wasn’t considering. It even helped them.”

I laughed again as we managed to get good spots while the teams did warm up and stuff. I couldn’t help but look for number seven as he stretched. The stretch where you have to reach your feet with your hands, giving me a pretty good look at his butt.

“Your boyfriend is being a pervert Avery,” Rowan murmured. “See how he’s doing all that stretching? It leads you to believe dirty things.”

I laughed out loud and almost spit my Coke to the person in front of me. “Rowan!” I slapped her arm.

She laughed. “What babe? Tell me you weren’t thinking of running your hand up and down his bare back and do some serious stuff your mother will disapprove of?”

I rolled my eyes. Maybe I had thought about kissing him, very intensely and maybe of taking off his shirt and maybe even of having his hands in some places, but something so severe not quite yet. “Not that dirty Ro.”

“But you had dirty thoughts, that’s what counts Ave,” she winked.

I rolled my eyes again as I saw four people all of them sporting a kind of formal attire take their places in the front lines of the field and got out notepads.

“Know who they are?” I asked Rowan.

She shook her head. “No idea whatsoever babe. Probably university scouts looking out for the older guys.”

I frowned and turned my eyes to the field as the game was announced to start.

For the first minutes they all seemed to be doing the least they could, but it was strategy. I’ve seen it applied a few times. They were trying to tire the other team out, since they weren’t doing their best, but the other team was and then suddenly they all turned into beasts and I don’t mean that in a sense you could misunderstand.

Somehow I kept an eye in the formal dressed people as they scribbled down notes and signaled to a vast quantity of players as I wondered who the hell were they.

Rowan cringed. “Number six you father mucker, how could you let that pass?!” she screamed.

I stared at her as did almost every reasonable soul in the place, of course not the fans, they screamed in agreement loving her new term. This was going to be a fun thing to watch for sure.

“How much time can they spend in there?” Rowan mumbled under her breath, annoyed.

I shrugged. “Who knows?”

She sighed and continued pacing. “It’s been almost twenty minutes Avery.”

I sighed and sat, retrieving a book from my purse. If we were going to wait might as well invert my time wisely.

I was reaching the fifth page when Rowan let out a dramatic, “Finally.”

I closed my book and looked up at the already showered Logan and Braden with a stunned looking Ben behind them.

“Hey baby,” Braden grinned and pulled in Rowan for a kiss.

“Hey Ben,” I waved over at the startled companion.

“Hey Avery,” he waved back. “Well I see you later, right?”

Logan nodded at him. I couldn’t help but notice the secret look they shared.

I put my book back into my purse and stood up as Logan interwined his fingers with mine. “Want to go somewhere? Like the movies?”

I shrugged. “We’ll see. First, who were those suited up men observing you all?” I asked.

He shrugged. “I really don’t know,” he said looking over his shoulder.

“Tell me the truth,” I told him. “Don’t you trust me?” I asked squeezing his hand for reassurance.

“I do Avery, it’s just that I don’t know who they were,” he told me. Still I didn’t buy it, he was looking somewhere between my forehead, not my eyes.

“I know you’re lying,” I told him.

“I’m not!”

I glared at him and let go of his hand. If there was something I hated was being lied to. It just fired me up. “Well when you are interested in telling me and are able to trust me enough you know where to find me,” I told him and stalked over to the parking lot as I heard him call, “Avery please don’t do this, I’m not lying.”

I started my car and reeved out of the parking lot, hating the fact that Logan was lying to me and wasn’t even admitting that he was. So for all I was concerned I wouldn’t talk to him until he either told me the truth or admitted he was lying, or maybe even both.

*

I read the same paragraph for the fifth time. I wasn’t really concentrating, not at all.

I groaned into a pillow and closed the book. If I wasn’t going to read then I must find something to distract me and Giovanna wasn’t home, Mom and Caleb weren’t here either so talking was out of the question.

Maybe log in to Facebook or something like that. My thoughts were interrupted when the door bell’s melody broke through the silent house.

I got up from my bed and ran down the stairs, eager for the distraction.

“Hello,” I said as I opened the door only to reveal what I was trying to distract myself from: Logan.

“Hey,” he smiled guiltily.

“What can I do for you?” I asked, a hand on my hip.

“Hear me out?”

I sighed. “Come on in,” I told him, closing the door behind him. “What is it you wanted to say?”

“I am sorry,” he told me, looking right into my eyes.

“For?” I asked. If he wanted forgiveness he would have to work for it.

“Lying,” he finally said.

I nodded. “Okay, you’re forgiven. But don’t you ever lie about lying again Logan Trainor.”

He nodded. “I won’t, Avery Watson,” he grinned and in two long strides shortened the distance between us, wrapping his arms around my waist and leaning down to kiss me.

I placed my hands arms around his neck and pulled him in for more. His tongue traced my bottom lip and my lips instantly parted letting him in, to intoxicate every single part of myself and he did as his hands traveled up and down my back seductively.

I moaned into his lips and he let me take a breath, maybe we both needed it, but instead his lips traced my jaw line and kissed my neck making me shiver in pleasure, then traveled a little down, where my chest began.

My head rolled back and I his lips were suddenly back into mine and I was kissing him senseless. Lustful and wanting. I wanted him so bad and I could tell he wanted me too because his hands were raising my shirt a little. Almost unconsciously and I loved it. I let my hands drop to his shirt and removed it in a single move as he kissed me some more and I ran my hands up his chest and loved how he let out an involuntary moan too.

His lips left mine and he pressed our foreheads together. “I have to be in my house soon,” he breathed.

“Don’t go,” I murmured, my hands pressed against his chest.

“I have to Ave. My parents have some important people over and apparently I have to be there.”

I nodded and walked some steps back. “Okay. I’ll see you Monday.”

He smiled and grabbed his shirt, putting it back on. “See you Monday,” he said and gave me a butterfly kiss in the lips before going out of my place.

“I love you,” I murmured out to the house.
