I breathed the in the cold air, it's my first time in days. It settled nice in my lungs, feeling like they were turned to almost ice. A cruise ship is their target… Our target. It’s gigantic in size, with glittering yellow lights reflecting off of the windows & exterior. I can’t see what the people look like, but from what I can see they must be wealthy & beautiful.
My head looked around to observe how the other girls reacted. Their large eyes were widened with astonishment and their mouths opened slowly, breathing in the iciness in the air. With opened mouths, the girls screamed louder than anything I’ve ever heard. My body flinched, and I desperately reached my hands up to my ears. Their shrieks getting higher & higher, almost to the point of causing fatalities. After almost half a minute of operatic screams, they began to die down. This seemed to get the mermaids excited, flipping their diamond-like tails up through the water. I looked up at the ship and noticed that people were beginning to hang over the edge, trying to figure out what the ear-busting voices were coming from.
My ears picked up peoples mumblings, but I couldn’t understand what they were saying. The people were dressed in heavy, expensive looking clothes. Fur was obviously a large essential to this occasion. I noticed a mermaid clawing her way up the side of the ship, her arms moving almost robotically. A few followed after, their hands tearing through the exterior. The rest of the mermaids began to swim over and repeat the gesture, some jumping out of the water and clinging to the boat halfway up.
I slowly swam over to them to join, the girls were jamming their boney fists into the plastic-covered metal. This looks like it will be painful… My eyes looked at my long, webbed, slender fingers and thin hands. I’m going to be pissed if I get a scratch. I closed my left hand into a fist and brought it back, erecting my thin arm above my head. My arm brought it down with tough force, cracking the surface and jamming my fisted hand into the ship. Pain wasn’t something I felt, but it was something exciting. I suddenly felt dominant, as if I were a queen. My face smiled, it’s been days since I had a positive emotion. I hoisted myself up onto the ship and began to climb up it, my glossy long blonde hair blowing all around my shoulders and upper tail. The other girls already vaulted over the railing of the boat, leaving me behind as usual. I reached the top of the boat, and jumped over the gold railing.
The mermaids are going ballistic...
