Mia walks into the room, watching Milo packs his things. Everything is quiet. Neither of them wants to say goodbye. The room is packed up, and nearly empty. Milo walks up stairs to put his final box of things on the moving van. Mia sits and waits. Milo slowly comes back down to the basement and stops when he reaches the bottom. He waits for her to say something.
"Why are you leaving?" Mia finally asks.
"I don't have a choice. I'm sorry baby." Milo replies.
"You can't call me that anymore."
"Because we can't date each other when your in a different country."
"I guess not, but can I still love you?"
"That's up to you really."
Mia doesn't say anything else and Milo can't find a reply. He stands quietly, playing with his fingers. Mia twirls her hair, and stares. Milo stares too. Milo has sparkling blue eyes, and Mia has emerald green eyes. So beautiful.
"You know..." Milo starts.
"What?" Mia asks.
"I don't know."
Milo begins to walk up the stairs and Mia starts to follow. When they reach the front door they both stop.
"I guess this is really goodbye." Mia cries.
"Yeah, it is. I'm going to miss you."
Mia opens the door and walks out, her dad is waiting for her, standing beside his car. Milo walks outside too and opens the car door that his mum is standing beside and slips inside. The car and moving van start driving down the street and disappears around the corner.
Mia's dad gets in the car as well and they drive away in the opposite direction. Everything feels as if it is happening too fast, and Mia can't take it. She cries. She cries long and hard. Her dad lets her cry and when she is finished and sniffling, he hands her a tissue.
"Thanks dad." Mia says.
"No problem sweetie. Are you feeling okay? I know you really liked that boy." Dad replies.
"Milo is his name and no I'm not okay. I loved him dad. Can I go with him?"
"No you can't go with him, that isn't up to me anyway. You're old enough to move away, but you were invited to live with him honey."
"I'm old enough? Doesn't that mean he is old enough to move as well?"
"Well then why isn't he here living with us?"
Dad shrugged. "I don't know sweetie."
"Don't call me sweetie. I loved him and you don't seem to care. He was the best thing that ever happened to me, and everything was awkward when he was packing everything away, he was quiet, I was quiet, and you probably don't even understand what love is!"
"You're right. I don't think I know what love is. That's why your mother left me. But I know what your going through, I felt the same when mum left as well. I cried all week."
"Really? I didn't see you."
"I don't like to cry in front of other people."
