The creature laughed ruthlessly, staring down at the hostage kneeling at its feet. Ropes were tied tightly around the man, restraining him from escaping.
“Where is it?” asked the creature.
“I will not tell you,” the man answered firmly.
“You know what will happen if you don't tell me, don't you?” whispered the creature, leaning down so it was a few inches from the hostage's face. It quickly stood back up, as if frightened of the man's flashing and blazing blue eyes.
“Tell me.” it said again, and kicked the man so that he fell down on the deck of the ship.
The man remained silent.
“Then,” the creature said, “You'll get a visit to our little friend down there,” pointing below its feet, “And then we'll see what you say. Of course, we don't know if you will ever get to speak again or not.” Its nine heads shook with laughter.
For the first time in half an hour, the creature looked up at its trembling servant. “Novellus, you go and throw our prisoner into the cage.” It turned one of its scaly heads to look at the boy.
Novellus stuttered, “Yes, Hydra.” But when he turned away from the monster, anyone would have seen fear written plainly over his face, fear of the “little friend down there.”
