“Honestly, there is no decent price for a coffee in any of these places." Paula groaned, as we walked over to the counter and ordered two vanilla ice coffees in Starbucks. This was pretty humorous
as Paula's dad was actually very wealthy, and pays a very large amount of funds to the school. This is why Paula gets away with rather a lot.
"Yeah, well, we could have just gone back to mine for a coffee but you insisted on going out after school, so stop moaning." I smirked.
She sighed as we took our order and went to sit on one of the sofa's nearest a window.
"Oh, look it's Kie!" Paula whispered loudly and pointed over my shoulder. I turned round to see him sitting there with one of his mates, he gave me a small smile and an awkward wave. I mouthed 'Hey' then turned back to Paula.
"Oh, he is totally crushing on you Allie." she giggled. I rolled my eyes and took a sip of my Ice coffee, resulting in brain freeze.
"You two should date." she said in all seriousness.
Kie was cute, he had really nice deep blue eyes and cute dimples, and I'm not going to lie, I've bumped into him a few times after he had showered at sport. But I just wasn't ready for a relationship right now. Besides everyone knows I don’t like that mushy love stuff.
"Will you stop." I smiled and looked out the window.
"Oh yeah, I forgot you are all hooked up over this Aaron guy.” I almost choked on my coffee.
“I am not!!!” I turned towards her and slammed my coffee onto the table.
“Oh are you kidding me, I saw the way you were looking at him in class this morning.” Okay, maybe I was a little intrigued by him, I mean, he’s so mysterious. But I don’t like him!
“No, no you have got it all wrong!” I exclaimed.
But before I could explain, my phone rang. I held up my finger to Paula and fumbled for it in my bag, I managed to find it and I answered. It was mum.
Mum: Allie, where the heck are you?”
Me: I’m just in Starbucks, why?
Mum: It’s half six! Leave now!
Me: Why?? It’s only early!
Mum: It takes you an hour to get home!
Me: Ugh, fine.
“Who was that?” Paula asked curiously.
“Just my mum, don’t worry about it.” I grunted putting my phone back in my bag, leaning back and picking up my coffee.
“So, about this Aaron guy. Why don’t you put a bit of effort into getting him to like you?” She says.
“Because I don’t like him and anyway, I’m not going to change myself just so he will like me.” I crossed my legs and watched the people behind the desk use the coffee machine.
“Umm, Ahem.” I looked back to see Kie standing before me clearing his throat.
“Oh, Hi Kie!” I said almost too cheerfully.
“Hey Allie, I was just leaving now and I wondered if you wanted to catch the bus with me.” He asked, his hands in his pockets.
“Oh sure!” It was probably a good idea before my mother had a hissy fit.
I stood up, handing Paula a two pound coin to pay her back for the coffee. She shook her head and pushed my hand away. She stood up and pulled me in for a hug.
“Good luck.” She whispered into my ear, not too subtly. I laughed and pulled away shaking my head.
“Okay, let’s go.” I said and slung my bag over my shoulder walking out the door. He followed me and joined me by my side as we walked up to the bus stop.
“So, how are you finding your studies at the moment?” He asked looking out towards the distance.
“Are you kidding me?!” I spluttered.
“You’re going to ask me about my ‘studies?’” I raised my eyebrows.
He grinned, showing his perfect straight white set of teeth.
“I was just making conversation…” He shrugged.
“Well, I’m finding them fine I guess, you?” I answered seriously.
“Your right, this is a boring conversation.” He admitted as our bus pulled up.
We sat near the back, I took the window seat. His hands were shaking a little. Aw, bless him.
“So, where about do you live?” Gosh, Thumbs up for sounding like a complete pervert Allie.
“Just off the drive. You?” he replied calmly.
“Oh, just two stops after.” I smiled and looked ahead. Talk about awkward.
“So, Allie, I was wondering… do you maybe want to hang out one day after school?” Oh god, here we go.
“Look… Kie, I just got out of a pretty serious relationship. Your great, but I don’t think I’m ready for a boyfriend right now…” I lied.
“Oh, okay no problem.” He smile, but it was not one of those sincere smiles, it didn't’t quite reach his eyes.
“Well, I guess this is your stop then.” I said as we pulled up.
I watched as his Adam’s apple bobbed in his throat.
“Yeah, I guess.” He leaned in for a hug and I gave him one, before he stood up and escaped the bus.
I think I felt my heart crack at that very moment. I’d never seen somebody so disappointed.
As I got off the bus, it just started to rain. I sighed and pulled my hood up, before making my way down the road, It was quite dark now and nobody was around.
I gripped onto my bag tightly and sped up.
“Hey love!” Well, I was wrong in thinking there was nobody around.
“Where are you going wait up!” I stopped and turned round to see a tall man heading towards me.
“Where are you going then?” he smirked, and I felt the breath of another ban behind me. I turned round as one of them gripped my bag. I stumbled but another man caught me.
“Let’s see, nothing in here that’s worth much boys.” The tallest, oldest looking man said.
“Let’s see if she can give us something.” The one holding me whispered.
“No, please…” I said, and the man started to pull my coat off of me.
“STOP.” A voice came, from about five meters away.
“Get. Off. Her.” A hooded figure walked out of the darkness.
“Or what? You’ll take us all out?” The man said still trying to remove my clothes and laughing.
“I was planning on it.” The hooded figure murmured as he ran up and swung a fist at the man’s face, he fell to the floor and gripped his face. Redness coated his hand. He then turned to the one in
front of me and threw him onto the floor, kicking him in the face three times before swiftly turning round.
“ANYONE ELSE!?” he shouted. But the other two men and scurried off without another word.
I wiped my nose as the tears kept rolling down my face.
“Thank you. Thank you so much.” I whimpered.
He put a finger to my lips and pulled my coat back over my shoulders, pulling me forward he placed a small kiss on my lips. Before disappearing into the darkness.
That was my first kiss, and I didn’t even know who gave it to me.
