I loved it. It was like my own little apartment. It reminded me of my attic room in New York but better.
“We thought it would be a good idea to give you some space. You are sixteen years old” my mom said.
“But don’t think you can do whatever you want” Eric said with a laugh.
“Thanks guys” I said and gave them both a hug.
They left my room and I decided to start unpacking the boxes in my room.
It was 5:46pm by the time I unpacked everything. I was able to put most of my pictures on the walls and fit all of my clothes
in the dresser. The closet was a walk in so my shoes
fit without a problem.
“Nyah” my mom said walking into my room. She looked around. “I like what you did with the place” she said.
“Thanks” I said.
“Do you want to go to the mall?” she asked, “I have to run some errands and I figured you could get some things for school.
You start on Wednesday” she explained.
“Sure” I said.
“Alright, I’ll just drop you off. Come to the car when you’re ready” she said.
“Okay” I said. She left my room.
I put on my boots and went to the car.
The mall was only about fifteen minutes away from where we lived.
“Here” my mom said handing me a debit card. It had my name on it.
“Eric put 500 dollars on there” she said, “I don’t know why but he did. I don’t want you spending it all at once. That’s for
clothes, shoes, and anything else you need for school.
I nodded and got out the car.
My mom yelled out the window. “Call me when you are finished” she said and drove off.
I walked into the mall. It was pretty big. There were probably about 100 stores in here.
I went to H&M, Hollister, Footlocker, Aldo accessories, Forever 21, urban outfitters, Nordstrom, Journeys and
I bought bags and bags of clothes and tons of shoes. My feet hurt so badly from walking around the mall. I called my mom and
she told me she would be here in ten minutes.
I was putting my phone away when I bumped into somebody.
I dropped all of my bags on the floor.
“Ouch!” they said.
“I’m so sorry” I said and looked up at the person I bumped into to.
This boy was so cute. He had beautiful light brown eyes and a cute smile.
“It’s fine” he said. He had a Spanish accent. He’s probably Dominican, I thought. I’m Puerto Rican so I’m always trying to
figure out what kind of Spanish people are.
He started picking up his bags and handing mine to me. While he was looking down I noticed his outfit.
Different is the first thing that popped into my mind. The way he dressed reminded me of my self. He had on ripped knee high
jean shorts, black knee high socks, black andwhite converses, and a black hoodie with a hand holding up the peace sign on it.
He put an army scarf around his neck underneath his sweater. On his head was a blacksnapback that hid his long hair that went an inch
or two pass his shoulders.
I snapped out of my daze and started picking up my bags.
“Wow. Is this all for you?” he asked.
“Yeah” I said with a smile. I know I must look crazy carrying all these bags. “I just moved here so I need to replace a lot
of stuff” I explained.
“Oh, Well welcome to Costa Vera” he said with a smile. My phone rang and I saw that it was my mom. The boy waved goodbye and
I walked outside and saw my mom waiting in the car. I put my bags in the trunk and we drove home.
When I got to my room I started putting all my stuff away. Once I was completely moved in I took a shower and plopped onto my
bed. It was so comfortable.
My mom knocked on my door to say good night and went back to the house.
I opened my laptop and checked my Facebook. I had a few messages from people from my old school. They all said the same
thing, “I miss you” and “Did you really move?”and “what about the school performance”.
I didn’t feel like replying to any of them so I logged off and went to bed.
My first night in a new house in a new state but it wasn’t that bad. Besides if people dressed like the boy I saw today then
I should fit right in.
Two more days until I start school, I thought and fell asleep.
