I set my bags on the floor and put Gizmo's tavel kennel next to my seat. i had a good hour to kill before i boarded the plane, so i decided to just relax a bit. After about 20 minutes of sitting and staring at the passer bys, i let out a sigh. It brought attention to myself which was a bit awkward. Saved by the rareness of my phone ringing, i smiled. It was my Aunt Juliet.
"Hey, Ethan!" Even though she was going on 33, she was quite the teenager. "Are you on the plane yet?"
I knew she couldnt see me, but i shook my head. "Nope. Ive got a good half hour ebfore i get to board."
"Aww... Well hurry up! We got some shopping to do before you move in next week!"
I laughed. "Yeah, i guess so. Thanks again, Aunt Juliet. It means alot, letting me crash there for a bit and getting me ready for good ole college life."
"'Member, Ethan. Call me Juliet. The Aunt part makes me feel kind of old... And no prob! You know Im always here for you."She paused. "But tomorrow. That day is going to be all about... Well..."
"Mom." I sucked in a breath. "I know. And it will be. But can it be a bit... Cheerful?"
"Of course! Thats the way your mother always has her birthdays." I could hear her sympathetic smile.
"Okay. Sounds good."
"Mhm. See you in a couple hours?"
