Chapter One (Revised)
Someone slams my locker door shut. Glaring, I look up to see who it is. I gasp, and then took a step back. A grin flashes across his face, showing his sharp canines. I take two steps back and he follows. Suddenly, I am cornered. His grin of victory grows wider as he watches my helpless state of being. He knows I can do nothing in school.
A warning growl tears through my throat. It only makes his grin grow wider. He takes a step closer and pushes my hair away from my neck. One bite is all it takes, and nobody around would know the horrible truth of it. They would dismiss it as a simple kiss to the neck, a sign of affection; although it was far from it.
"You should know to not corner me," I say threateningly.
"What will you do? We're in school," he says, grinning triumphantly.
"I may not be able to kill you, but I can wound you greatly," I say, glaring.
He shakes his head slowly, back and forth, and continues to grin; little does he know I have a secret weapon. He is always so smug, smiling with that stupid grin of his. It sends joyful shivers up my spine, but annoys me none the less.
"You don't think I will," I say.
"I know you won't try anything in front of them," he responds evenly.
I smile, genuinely smile, at him. His eyes widen, the smirk on his face vanishing. I know he isn't going to expect me to hurt him. I have the element of surprise on my side.
Leaning down, I quickly snatch an enchanted knife from the side of my boot. I keep it strapped to the inside of my boots at all times in case I end up in a situation much like this one. Seeing what I am about to do, he tries to move out of the way. Due to my powers, I am much faster than he. I side step, take aim, and then throw the knife. It whizzes through the air and hits his shoulder, making him howl in agony. Heads turn, but people immediately look away and continue walking as though nothing is happening. It is the enchantment of the blade.
He looks at me, face contorted into pain and fury. I run to him and pull the silver-bladed knife from his shoulder. He growls, but I ignore it and stab him in the back of his knee. Then I sprint away, knowing he cannot follow.
