Chapter 20:

As soon as I saw that Grace was gone, I walked back into the living room. My brother was waiting for me, frowning.

"What was that all about, bro?" I grabbed my beer off the table and sat down beside him.

"Nothing to be concerned about, man."

"Bullshit, Justin. I heard her yelling at you from in here! What did you do?"

Jared was staring at me hard and wouldn't stop. Finally, I couldn't take it anymore.

I crushed my empty beer can and softly said, "Apparently I knocked her up." I glanced over at my brother, to see his reaction, and knew exactly what he was thinking.

"Dammit, Justin, that's your second one! How are you going to afford raising two kids?"

I shrugged my shoulders and simply replied, "I don't know." Jared sat up and looked me dead in the eye. "I'll tell you thing, shouldn't have yelled at her. I know you didn't mean all those things you said! Face it: you want to be a part of not only her life, but that child's life."

"Maybe you're right...but it's too late now. You saw how angry she was when she left! She'll never speak to again!" I stood up and got another beer from the fridge.

Jared met me in the kitchen. Leaning against the counter, he said, "You go to school with her, man! There's going to be a time where she'll have to speak to you! Just give it time."

I nodded and slapped on the back. "You thought she was hot, didn't you?" My brother's face turned a light red and he replied, "I'm not gonna lie, Justin, she is hot."

We both started laughing and took our new beers back into the living room. While watching tv, I thought to myself, 'for brother was right...I did have feelings for Grace and I had to make things right with her.'

At Logan's house, we sat in the basement playing with Suki. She was smaller than Roscoe was and had alot more spots than him.

As we sat there, Suki decided she didn't want to play with us anymore and walked away from us. Logan scooted closer to me and I could tell we were going  to have a serious conversation.

"Are you scared?" He softly asked.

I replied, "Ha...I'm terrified. But, since I have wonderful you....I know that I'll be fine."

Logan smiled and nodded. "Do your parents know?" He asked in careful tone.

I shook my head and stared at the ground. "I'm afraid to tell my mom...she'll be so mad. And my in Japan, so I'm thinking about telling him tonight."

He considered this for a moment and then said, "I think you should. At least he can't come down and kill Justin." We laughed together and scooted closer to each other.

Logan wrapped his arm around my shoulders and I rested against his chest. "I told myself that I would never be like those sluts at school...that I would never get pregnant while still in school! Now, I'm just like them! I'm a stupid slut..."

He raised up and made me look at him. "Don't you ever say that again, Grace. You are not a made a mistake. Nobody is perfect and we all make mistakes...and look at this baby as a blessing. Some people can't have children."

I knew that Logan was right..I just didn't want to admit it. I smiled up at him and said, "Thank you, Logan."

He had a confused expression on his face when he asked, "For what?"

"You know exactly what to say to me. You always know how to make me feel better." I hugged Logan and laid my head back on his chest.

Logan kissed my forehead and stated, "What can I say? I know how to please girls."

I playfully smacked his chest and stood up. "I have to go. My dad should be in his room now. Will you take me to my car?"

Disappointed, Logan nodded. "I don't want you to go."

I took his hands, in mine, and said, "Tomorrow's Monday. You'll see me then."

We got to my car, surprisingly, fast. I kissed Logan goodnight and then climbed into my car. On the way home, my stomach was doing flips.

I didn't want to tell my dad that I was pregnant! He is going to be so disappointed in me. I pulled into the driveway and my mom was standing outside.

"Well, hello there, Miss Banks!" She hollered.

I rolled my eyes and, as much as I didn't want to, blushed. "Shut up...why are you out here?"

"Your dad is on video chat in your room. You better hurry if you want to speak to him."

I grabbed my purse and keys and ran inside. I shut my door. "Hi Daddy!"

My dad's face was smiling on the computer and I knew he could hear me...but it still didn't feel the same. "Hi sweetheart! How have you been?"

Shrugging my shoulders, I replied, "Pretty have to tell you something."

"Alright, babygirl, you know you can tell me anything."

Choosing the right words, I hesitated. I didn't want to break my dad's heart. "'re going to be so disappointed in me."

My dad's smile faltered. "Gracie, are you in trouble?"

"No...uh...I found out last week....that I'm pregnant."

I heard my dad's fingers drum against the table he was sitting at. He began studdering. "'re w..what?"

"I'm so sorry for letting you down, daddy, but I'm pregnant."

My dad placed his head in his hands and sighed, "Grace...I can't believe this."

Tears started forming in my eyes, but I held them back. My voice sounded trembly. "I know it's unbelievable...I'm so sorry...but I didn't want to abort it. You know I can't kill anything!"

He nodded and simply asked, "Does your mother know?"

I shook my head no. "I haven't been brave enough to tell her...what do I do, Daddy?"

"Don't tell her yet. I'll keep it a secret...for awhile."

I smiled in relief. "Thank you, daddy...are you mad at me?"

My dad chuckled. "Of course not, Gracie...I'll just worry even more about you. I'm really going to be a papaw, huh?"

Grinning, I said, "Yes. You and mom are grandparents now."

All of a sudden, I heard my door click. I turned around, quickly, and saw my door being shut back. Panic immediately filled my entire body.

"Gracie? Are you still there?"

My dad's voice echoed in the room, or so it seemed to me.

I rushed over to my door and caught my mom running down the hallway...away from my room.

She had heard my conversation...she, now, knows my secret.
