“So,” I said, after I’d finally calmed down. “How did I end up here?”
“Well. Last night I went for a walk, and I just saw you lying there. I brought you home to Aimee. We put you in the spare room. And then you woke up this afternoon.” Zeke explained.
“Won’t your parents mind that I’m here?” I enquired.
“No, they are away for the weekend.” Aimee said.
“So, do you want something to eat?”
“Sure Aimee that would be great.”
Aimee made me a sandwich, and I ate it quickly.
“Anyway, I have homework to do,” began Aimee. “Feel free to look around the house.”
Their house was fairly large. 4 bedrooms, a kitchen, bathroom, lounge, study and room that I guessed was for whatever needed a home. It was old-fashioned, with open rooms and large windows. Most
rooms were pale blue or pastel green. In the “whatever” room was a piano, a guitar, three cupboards, clothes, a table and hundreds of photos. It was pale blue with a grey-blue carpet. The wood of
the cupboards was sand-coloured. The couches were blue and white, very comfy and homey. It was definitely my favourite room in the house.
The lack of technology around the house was a first a bit of a shock to the system, but it became sort of nice. I couldn’t see a television, a computer or even a phone. It was disconcerting, but I
thought about it for a while, and it began to grow on me.
“Hey, um Indi.”
I turned around, Zeke was standing in the doorway.
“Hey to you too.”
Zeke came and sat next to me on the faded couch.
“How are you? Are you ok?”
I paused before replying. “I’m getting there. It’s still starting to sink in. But, already I’m a little homesick. I miss my mum, and Claudia, and d,dad and…”
I started to cry before I could stop myself.
Startled, Zeke leaned over to hug me. His embrace was warm and it made me feel secure.
“I didn’t mean to make you cry. Honestly I didn’t.”
“It’s ok, I’m just over emotional after this whole thing.” I smiled through my tears.
“Anyway.” Began Zeke. “My parents will be back in 5 days, and then they can drive you home. But until then, I’m afraid you’re stuck with us.”
I sat properly to smile at him.
“You know what?” I asked. “I think I can live with that.”
NOTE: This is for my friends (you know who you are... cough*alice*cough). Indi, Claudia and Aimee are all 16. Zeke is 17 and Aaron is 18. AND (cough*alice*cough) in chapter 4 when Aimee goes
"something something something the hell is going on" that is just PART OF HER PERSONALITY!!!!! she's just upfront like that. And Zeke just reprimands her because he thinks she is being rude!
Ok!!! Are we clear????
BTW ily alice :P
