I'm still very sketchy about posting but here's chapter 24. It's short because it's sort of a filler chapter. I'm currently writing chapter 28 on my laptop so I've almost finished the novel on my laptop which makes me kind of sad but happy at the same time!

Chapter Song: Pillowtalk - Zayn

“He has meetings Wednesday through to Friday, all of them at ten o’clock. His emails are all cleared out and the only ones kept are the club appearances that he had put off for the time you’ve been out of this.” Cameron said.

“He put off all of the club appearances?” I frowned a little.

“Yeah, he told me to message them that something had come up and that he couldn’t do the appearances for the next couple weeks but he’s got a different club every night next week.” Cameron shrugged as his eyes met mine. “How are you holding up though?”

“Yeah, good. The stitches all came out a couple days ago and they said I’m healing up perfectly. I have to go back in two weeks to make sure that it completely healed. Still slight pain if I move the wrong way though.” I smiled.

It had been three weeks since Laura and Lacey’s sentencings. Lacey had gotten eight to ten years in prison for being the mind behind me being stabbed. She apparently preyed on Laura to do it because she knew the struggles she was going through and just wanted me out the picture, like everyone had guessed.

I still wished she had gotten more than eight to ten years in prison.

Ever since that day, I had felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders completely. Darius still checked in every now and then, he was too busy with another case to swing by. I had lunch with Marianne twice now and one time was with Mum so both our mothers had met and gushed over our cute me and Travis apparently were together.

I had to stop myself from rolling my eyes and gagging over it.

Travis wasn’t around much as he was busy making sure that everything was going fine at his club. He still hadn’t told anyone about it but he did tell me that everyone would find out when the club finally opened. Not even Ken knew that he was opening up a club. It made me happy that he was doing something he wanted to do rather than following the path that Ken wanted to push him down.

The relationship between me and Travis had been growing stronger than it had been and my feelings kept over flowing. It wasn’t so much that I was in love with the guy because I wasn’t but I could be in the future. I don’t know exactly how Travis felt but I guess he matched my own feelings. I still found hilarious when girls who fan-girled over him sent me threating twitter statuses and inboxes on Instagram. I had to make my Instagram and twitter private because they were becoming pyschos.

“That’s good. I bet you’re happy about both of them being behind bars for a decent amount of time.” Cameron said.

“You can bet your ass I am.” I laughed as I stood up, grabbing my phone, keys and wallet of the table. “Thanks for updating me on everything, I have to go get Travis’ suits from the dry cleaning and pick up the booze for tonight. It’s a boys night in.”

“It was good to see you again, Amity. We really need to catch up more.” Cameron smiled.

“Organize a time and we’ll make it happen.” I smiled at him. As I started to walk out of the building I stopped. I turned back and went over to Cameron. “Hey, how’s Mrs Hartley?”

“She’s good. She asked me about you the other day actually when I was over visiting Jake. He’s now living with her.” Cameron laughed. “Trust me when I say that Mrs Hartley wants to slap him up the head.”

“It’s good to hear she’s doing good, I need to go around and see her. I haven’t seen her since I moved.”

“I told her what happened, she was worried about you but I gave her all the updates I knew. Definitely swing by to see her, she’ll love seeing you again.”

“I will.” I smiled. “See ya.”

I walked out the building and went to the carpark where my car was parked. I climbed in and started it with a purr. As I reversed out, I hit the brakes with so much force I thought the brake pedal was going to go through the floor of the car. A girl who looked about my age stared in shock at my car as I climbed out and rushed over to her. She had come out of nowhere and made me almost hit her. My heart raced in my chest as I stood in front of her clicking my fingers.

“Hey?” I said as I gained her attention. “Are you okay? You just came out of nowhere and I almost hit you.”

“I’m so sorry, I was in a daze. I just got fired.” She sighed as she held the box of her things up a little.

“Oh shit, sorry to hear about that. But are you okay?”

“Yeah, I’m fine. What about you? Are you okay?” She asked with a frown.

Her brown eyes met mine and she did that head flick to get her chestnut brown hair out of her face. She was pretty and stood a little taller than me. She was dressed in business attire and it started to click where she just got fired from. I sort of felt bad for her if I’m honest. Being fired wouldn’t be the best feeling in the world, it’s probably the worst feeling in the world. I didn’t know what it was like to be fired as I quit before they had a chance to do so.

“I’m good. Did you just get fired from Carter Records?” I asked.

“How’d you guess?” She sighed as her brown eyes looked down at the box. “I don’t even understand what I did wrong. I never flirted with Travis Carter, hell, I stirred clean of that man. I mean he’s attractive, really fucking attractive and it would be hard not to flirt and fall under that charm of his but I could never go there with that man, he’s a womanizer and everyone knows that. I did everything Mr Carter asked of me and all of a sudden, I’m fired. I mean Charlotte should’ve been fired; she always flaunted, flirted and tried to get the attention of Travis which we all knew Ken didn’t like and had made a rule not to go near him. Oh shit, I’m rumbling, I’m sorry.”

I laughed a little. “You’re alright, let it all out. And just so you know, Travis isn’t as bad as you think.”

“I’m Julianna Cross.” She smiled a little. “The girl trying to work out why she got fired.”

“Amity Tate.” I grinned. “The girl who almost reversed into you.”

“Oh my,” Julianna gasped. “You’re Travis’ PA. Oh my god. I just said all that stuff to you. Oh fuck, you probably think I’m a right cow.”

I shook my head with a smile. “All good, don’t stress about it. How about we get you to your car?”

“Okay, okay. I’m sorry that I walked out behind you, I should pay more attention than I had.”

“Stop apologising, you’re fine.”

Julianna and I walked over to her car and I opened the door so she could put her things into the car. I honestly felt sorry for the girl. I mean the Charlotte chick she mentioned should’ve been fired and I felt a slight disliking towards the Charlotte girl. I brushed the disliking towards the girl away as I closed the door to Julianna’s car. Julianna pushed her hair out of her face as she looked at me.

“Again, sorry for before.” She said as she leant against her car.

“Perfectly fine.” I assured her.

“Well, I better get going. I need to find another job before I end up homeless.” She laughed.

“Good luck, see you round, Julianna.” I smiled.

“I hope so!” She called out as I walked off to my car.

As I climbed into my car, flashbacks of when Laura stabbed me flashed through my mind. Julianna mentioning being homeless just reminded me of why Laura stabbed me in the first place. I rested my head on the steering wheel as I took a few deep breathes in as I clenched my teeth together. I hated that little things made me think of that vile cow. I squeezed my eyes shut before opening them and starting my car. I shifted into reverse, made sure that no one else was going to walk out on me before I let my car move backwards.

The house was pretty quiet considering the boys were all off in the theatre room playing god knows what. The only time I really heard anything was when one of them came out to get drinks and left the door open. Those few times I just heard laughing and swearing. I had opted for watching movies on the bigger screen TV in the lounge room rather than in my bedroom and bigger than Travis'. If Laura hadn’t done what she had done, I would’ve called her and told that we were going out. But I couldn’t do that.

If I was honest, I did miss Laura. I missed the Laura I used to spend endless hours on the phone to, the Laura that didn’t stab me for an amount of money because she was falling behind in rent. I just wished she had come to me or something instead of doing what Lacey asked her to do. I still didn’t understand why she would do something Lacey of all people. Was it because I wasn’t spending enough time with her? Or because I did something to anger where to the point that she’d do something for Lacey?

I had no idea and I don’t think I’d get proper answers and I seriously think there is more to this than she’s let on.

“What you doin'?” Travis’ voice cut through my head and I jumped.

“Fuck me.” I muttered as my hand went to my chest.

“Not now, later.” Travis grinned at me and I glared at him.

“Why aren’t you in having your boyfriend time?” I shot at him.

“Because we’re hungry, we were doing a lot of exercise, you could say.” Travis smirked with a wink.

“Well, you won’t need a work out tonight then, huh?” I pointed out with a smile and the bounce of my eyebrows.

Travis climbed over the plush black couch and pushed me backwards as he positioned himself over the top of me. His icy blue eyes swarming with mischievous and playfulness as his hand brushed my hair out of my face. His lips meant mine and my eyes closed as he lingered for a minute. I felt his breath on the side on my neck as he hit the sweet spot on my neck.

“You’ll get your work out tonight; I told you I was hungry.” Travis murmured, his voice husky.

I bite down on my bottom lips as my eyes closed and Travis’ hand roamed downwards. I wasn’t going to let him strip me starkers right here and right now, no way. But I just enjoyed it for the time being. My hands went to the back of his neck and hooked together.

“Oi, Travis.” We heard Fitchy shout out.

Travis' head looked up and I looked just above the back of the couch. Travis glanced down at me with a playful smile. I just shook my head at him and rolled my eyes.

“What are you… Nevermind, hey Amity.” Destery said as he came into view. “Thought you were going to get food.”

“I am, in a minute. I’m dragging Amity along with me.” Travis said, still positioned in the spot between my legs. “I’m getting pizza, that’s what you fat fucks are getting.”

“Pizza’s fine, just hurry up.” Destery said as he gave Travis a pointed look.

Travis just grinned at him as Destery shook his head muttering about blokes and girlfriends. Travis looked down at me before going to his knees and pulling me up with him. I flinched as slight pain shot up my side. I closed my eyes for a moment and took a deep breath in. I held the breath for three seconds before slowly letting it out for six and opening my eyes. Travis’ eyes met mine as I did.

“You right?” He asked.

I nodded. “Yeah, I’m good.”

“Don’t lie to me about the pain Amity, you heard what the nurse said if you were to become in pain again.” Travis said as he placed a hand on the side of my neck.

“I’m seriously okay. I just moved the wrong way, that’s all. Stop stressing, okay?”

“Alright, fine. Let’s go.” Travis said as he climbed of the couch and fixed himself up. I raised an eyebrow as he did. “Don’t look at me like that. You did this.”

“I didn’t do shit. That’s your own fault, buddy.” I said as I stood up, brushing my hair off my face.

Travis just shook his head before walking away from me and getting a set of keys and his wallet. I met Travis in garage and hung by the door seeing as I didn’t know what car he would be taking since he likes to play luckily dip with his car keys. Once he was in the garage, he unlocked the Range Rover and I went over to the car and got in.

As Travis drove down the drive way, my phone binged at me. I looked down at it to see a message from Darius asking me to ring in. Rolling my eyes at my brother’s laziness, I tapped his name and tapped the call button before placing the phone to my ear. I listened to it ring once before he picked up.

“I don’t know why you couldn’t have rung me yourself.” I stated as he answered and my eyes trained on the red traffic light.

“Cause I’m lazy, sue me.” Darius laughed.

“What do you want?” I asked as we took off from the lights.

“You know how my birthday is coming up? Like this weekend?”

“Of course I do.” I lied.

I had completely forgotten that Darius’ birthday was coming up this weekend.

With everything going on it had slipped my mind. Guilt bit at me as I scrunched my face up and silently said fuck. I know I shouldn’t be feeling guilty because I knew that Darius would understand but I didn’t want to tell him, the jerk would probably hold it over my head for the rest of my life. He had done it to me before when I forgot to pick him up a bottle of coke when I was sixteen. That only stopped three years ago when I threw a bottle coke at him and spilt his eyebrow open.

I freaked out when it happened and he had to have two stitches. He thought it was hilarious. He now has a scar above his eyebrow and he tells all the girls that he meets and ask about the scar that he got it in a fight rather than telling them that his litte sister three a bottle of coke at his head and split it open.

“Yeah well, I’m having a birthday dinner at Tricksters on Saturday in town. I want you and Travis there, at seven.” Darius said.

“Wouldn’t miss it.”

“I know you wouldn’t but yeah. It’s formal attire because this place is flash as shit.”

“Formal?” I groaned.

Darius laughed. “Yes. I’ll see you Saturday.”

“Alright, bye.”

“Don’t look like a grub.” Darius said and hung up.

I rolled my eyes as I looked at my phone. I am going to buy him the shittest gift I can find as a gag gift for doing that to me. He would not be getting away for telling me not to look like a grub.

“We’ve been invited to Darius’ birthday dinner on Saturday in town at Tricksters.” I said to Travis as I looked over to him.

“So we have to dress flash?” Travis asked as he glanced over at me.

“Yeah, I guess so. I need to go shopping for a dress then. Preferably tomorrow seeing as it’s two days away.”

“I’m sure Melody will go with you because I am not doing dress shopping.”

“You’re such a sook.” I laughed.

“I know.” Travis grinned at me.
