Natalia fell to the floor in a heap. Her cheek hurt where she had been hit. She put her hand to her cheek and looked up at the cackling group of girls. She hated this dream or memory, whatever you wanted to call it, it was always the same.

“Next time don’t get in my way” Reagan Wells stood above Natalia with her bitchy smile on her face. Reagan always got what she wanted because she took it. She never asked. She was the bully at Cromeden High and everybody knew it. Natalia had been at the high school for 2 years and everyday Reagan had made sure Natalia’s life was miserable.

“I wasn’t in your way in the first place!” Natalia spat back as she got to her feet. Fury ran through her veins as she clenched her fist by her side.

Reagan turned to her group of friends and spoke sarcastically. “You hear that? Little Natalia thinks she wasn’t in – “

Reagan was cut off. She started grabbing at her throat. She tried to scream but it came out garbled. She was being choked.

“What? This wasn’t supposed to happen! This isn’t how the dream goes!” Natalia said as she watched Reagan clawing at her throat. The girls behind her were carrying on with the sequence of the dream. They were still laughing at Natalia who was supposed to be on the floor but the girls hadn’t noticed. The dream was carrying on without her. Weird!

Reagan screamed in agony as something invisible choked her. Natalia didn’t know what to do. On the one hand she was happy the bitch was getting what she deserved. But on the other hand...this dream wasn’t running its usual course and Natalia cannot stand by and watch somebody being killed, dream or no dream.

“Help...m...e...can’t...brea...th...”  Reagan said as she thrashed her legs. It looked as though somebody invisible was holding her up in the air with their hand around her throat. Natalia grabbed the invisible hand. As she did, Jacob turned visible again except this fierce, angry person wasn’t Jacob. Reagan’s friends were still laughing at where Natalia was usually in her memory/dream.

“Jacob! Let go!” Natalia screamed as she pulled at his arm but he didn’t take his eyes off Reagan’s panicked face. Fear flooded through Natalia as she realised Reagan’s legs were slowing down. She pulled at his arm harder. Jacob hands twitched quickly and with a snap, Reagan’s legs stopped dead.

“No!” Natalia screamed as Jacob dropped Reagan’s lifeless body to the ground. Reagan’s eyes stared blankly at everything but at nothing at the same time. Natalia dropped to here knee’s beside Reagan. “No! no!, no!, no! This isn’t supposed to happen! This isn’t how it goes!”  Natalia pushed her silver hair out of her face and looked at Jacob. “Why did you do that?” A few tears dribbled down Natalia’s cheeks. Jacob turned robotically to face her. When he spoke it wasn’t his voice. It was seductive and velvety, filled with power.

“I did this to show you what I can do. What I can do for you.” Jacob’s mouth moved but his facial expression stayed the same. Blank.

She knew that voice. It had been in every one of her dreams since she could remember. It was Snyder.

“I don’t want anything for you!” Natalia screamed at him as she laid Reagan’s head down on the floor gently and stood up. She didn’t dare look back at Reagan. She may have not been a friend of Natalia’s and she hated her guts but she was part of Natalia’s history. If it wasn’t for Reagan being a bitch, Natalia wouldn’t be the person she was today. She walked closer to Jacob and stopped 5 feet away from him.

“Why has my dream changed” Natalia asked angrily with her tear streaked cheeks and shaking fists. Jacob didn’t say a word; he just stood there staring blankly straight ahead. “Answer me!” Natalia screamed.

“I made it change” Jacob spoke calmly.

“How did you make it change!” She wiped her eyes quickly.

“Surely you have heard about me Natalia. I have been in your dreams, watching you, all your life.” The voice that controlled Jacob said.

“I know who you are! Just tell me what you want and then get the hell out of my dreams!” It suddenly started raining and the scenery had changed. Now Natalia and Jacob stood facing each other on The Knight Academy grounds, on the field, just on the edge of the forest.

“I am powerful Natalia” Jacob grabbed Natalia by both her shoulders. “More than you can comprehend!” Natalia struggled to get free but he was just too strong.

“Let me go!” Natalia tried to focus on her power. She channelled fire to her hands.

Jacob laughed a deep and throaty laugh and shook her. “Your powers are useless here because I wish it! I control you here Natalia! I control how you think! How you feel!” Natalia shook her head.

“Just a dream, this is just a dream. Wake up! Wake up! It’s just a dream.” Natalia whispered to herself. Jacob laughed then threw her to the floor. As she was about to hit the floor she woke up in her dorm room. She breathed in big gulps of air as she sat up. That’s when Aria’s body started convulsing. She gargled as blood spilled out of her mouth. Natalia’s heart sunk but her adrenaline shot sky high.

She threw the covers off her and ran to Aria.
“What happened! Aria please! What happened! Who did this!”

Natalia pulled the blood soaked covers off Aria which exposed the knife stuck in her toned stomach.
