………….. I watched as Kain Looked over toward where I was sitting, I froze half expecting him to recognize me and either pull out his gun or take off running. I rubbed the back of my neck and carried on looking as he looked back at Megan. He waited until she had walked back inside before he got back in his car and pulled out from the parking lot of the Inn, I let out a deep breath.

Okay I needed to regroup seeing Kain like this was like the dangerous Man I knew was gone… if a man trained to do with over three dozen target eradications under his belt could ever change. Kain’s car pulled up in front of the Café ten feet from where I was sitting… Regroup fast girl I moved in my seat as he got out of the car even behind the dark glasses I knew his eyes had taken in everything in the café outside of it and in the street. He walked inside; I closed my eyes and ran my fingers through my hair, my phone rang

Egan * Hey sweetheart

Me * Hi, everything okay?

Egan * Weber called raging over the way you spoke to him

Me * the ass deserved it

Egan * that I don’t doubt, he told me he wasn’t going to do what you asked that I was a fool for even letting a women into the business

Me * he’s intimidated by me

Egan * I don’t blame him… But he’s not calling off the hounds… I’m calling Sam, D and Casper back from Prague

Me * why?

Egan * to have your back

Me * It’s moving way faster here than I was expecting hold back on the guys

Egan * I know you can look after yourself but humor me

Me * give me twenty four hours, bring them back stateside by all means but give me twenty four hours

Egan * fine Honey please watch your back

Me * I will

I hung up as Kain walked by me taking a seat where he could see around without looking like he was keeping track on everything. I was angry as all hell with Weber and before this was done he’d face me and learn the hard way you don’t ignore this girl. I folded the paper and picked up my purse and coffee, I got up and walked across the patio to Kain’s table, not the way I’d wanted to get to this point with him but hell game plans change.

“Looks like I found the wild Cat” he frowned and looked up at me I pulled out a chair and say down He leant forward “Oh I’m feeling slightly offended Kain you don’t remember me” He pushed his glasses up on top of his head the color paling under his tan

“Evie?”

“The one and only… you answered my ad” I picked up my coffee Kain was still staring at me

“Evie?”

“Yes” I nodded slowly

“You… I mean…”

“Not like you not to be composed and flustered” I tipped my head and looked at him He took a deep breath and the impassive face I’d seen so many times was there

“Why are you here?” he picked up his coffee and shifted in his seat.

“I now you’re armed you don’t change overnight” I smiled but so am I “And I’m here because I was sent to track you”

“I’m out of it now and if the Boss wanted me done then and now offence they should have sent some one up for the job not an ATF agent” he finished his coffee

“You’ve been out of the loop for a while haven’t you… and it’s nice to know you forgot about me after Columbia” I shook my head “I love being a notch on the inside of a jungle hut” he remained impassive but picked his phone up from the table and hit the screen with his thumb

“Stay there… please stay where you are… something has come up… I’ll come for you in a while… I’m going to be okay… trust me… what have I always promised you even after I met Jessi and you and Cowboy jack ass got together?...  I promise two hours and I will be there with you stay in the grounds of the inn okay” Kain hung up the phone and the waitress came over and filled his coffee cup

“You were more than that” I frowned at him

“What?”

“The comment you made before about being a notch on the wall of a jungle hut… You almost killed me and got yourself killed in the process” He sighed “You were scared out of your mind and you had lost that necklace” Okay feeling vulnerable that he’d remembered that detail. “And I was in need of a tension release”

“Ow well that stings” I shook my head

“You were one hell of a release it was like being in bed with a wild cat” he smirked a little “I still have a scar on my back from it”

“I bet mine beats yours” I took a deep breath

“So you’ve been sent to find me why?”

“When did you fall in love with Megan Miller?” he raised his eyebrows “Kain I’ve seen you with her this morning…”

“I’m seeing someone… I’ve moved on from the past”

‘You know I know were in Texas but right here there are no cows so why am I smelling bullshit?” I lent on the table and took off my sunglasses “I know she’s been seeing some asshole that really…”

“It was you” Kain frowned “You attacked Blake last night”

“I saw him knock her on her ass in the dirt because she didn’t want to blow him round the back of the bar” I shrugged “I’ve changed a lot since the last time you knew me… I did hear that he is walking around telling people three guys kicked his ass” Kain was watching me “I’m having to deal with a whole heap of real douche bags right now… Including James Weber” I saw a slight flinch in the cheek of Kain

“Weber sent you… what about the ATF or the CIA”

“Let’s say you and I have both parted ways with the people we worked for… under a cloud”

“You’re a private contractor?”

“Not really… it’s a little off my new line of work but Weber had found out somehow who I was and That I used to be your handler” Kain frowned “a two million dollar paycheck to track down you and Megan and keep my secret from my old Bosses I had to do it”

“How long did it take you t find us”

‘A week but I knew how to pull you out where no one else did” I took a  drink

“You’re selling me out” there was an edge to his voice “It’s not going to end well Evie”

“Typical man jump to the wrong conclusion… I took the money and the job because I have a new life and you saved mine I’m here to find out the other side to the story… I’ve had Weber’s” I ground my teeth “and I ain’t buying it… I’m here to help you and Megan”…………….
