 (Amy’s Point of View)

I wake up to mum gently whispering my name. The light of the hospital blares into my eyes. It takes me a while to realise where I am, considering I’m blind because of the lights. Then I remember why I’m here. I jump out of the VERY uncomfortable chair I was sleeping in. ‘Mum have they heard anything?!’ ‘Honey he’s in a coma. He has an open fracture in his leg and possible permanent brain damage…’ That’s when it set in… I realized that he might never be the same. No words could explain how I was feeling at that moment. Probably fear, desperation, a feeling of no hope, probably even worse. At that singular moment I felt as if my entire world had been ripped away from me. ‘Amy? Hello?’ ‘Um yeah… Mum can I go see him?’ ‘Yeah just hang on I’ll ask someone.’ I looked around the room seeing everybody’s face in depression mode, because of not knowing what’s wrong or what’s happening to them is one of the worst feelings. I couldn’t imagine what Michael’s mother Nicole is feeling right now… ‘Yeah they said you could go in. I hope you’re okay? Before you looked like you’d seen a ghost…’ I didn’t say anything. I didn’t understand why I felt like this. It’s not like I was dating him. He has no serious connection to me… Or so I thought. I didn’t trust myself to speak. To let them know how shaken I was because of this would probably just cause more drama. I walk down the hall following the nurse ahead of me. We turn into the ward and there was his bed straight in front of me. Seeing his head in that bandage like it was, it was just too much for me to handle for one day. I sunk to the floor and broke. The tears came flowing out of me and I didn’t fight it. I knew I couldn’t. I didn’t have the strength. The next thing I knew was my dad was picking me up and carrying me. Where I did not know until I got there. This day was too much for my body to handle and I fell asleep in the back seat of the family car.
