Chapter 1: Dragonspeare

PROLOGUE

When a dragon is born, its mother leaves it to grow, fend for itself, and she will never see her draglet again.

That is the dragon way, and it cannot be changed.

If a dragon breaks that rule, she will be banished for life. She will be sent to the Four-Legged-Creatures who hate and kill dragons, and her memory will be ruined as the dragon that broke the law.

Once in a while, though, a dragon who is destined to never have eggs of her own will stumble upon a draglet egg. She will pity it and take it home, forever cursing her fate. She knows she is the cause of her own death... and it is horrible to know that.

If a draglet is raised, they will have better chance of being killed by other dragons, they will be soft and unable to feed themselves, and they will be rejected by society.

If that happens to a draglet....

They go mad.

A foster mother will be hated forevermore because they have brought a maniac into the dragon world.


If this happens......
