Lumin used Kaden's hand to tap on the window of Winna's bedroom as she twisted around from her dresser mirror and smiled at him. She was beautiful, as far as humans went. Lumin waited as she unlatched the window and looked to him with excitement in her eyes, "Kaden, what are you doing out there? There's a storm brewing." Lumin smiled through Kaden and held out a hand to her, "I know, isn't it glorious? Come out and enjoy it with me."

Winna shook her head, "You're insane, it is too wild outside." Lumin continued to hold out his hand towards her, "Come on, don't tell me the great healer of nature is afraid of a little storm. I have something I want to tell you." Winna bit her lip, looked behind her and took his hand. Lumin helped her out of the window and onto the grass as the pair ran off towards the forest. Winna sprinted beside him and wondered where change in Kaden's normal calmness came from. Maybe he had made peace with himself and wanted to tell her away from the others?

They ran into the trees that beat fiercely in the wind and Winna worried about their stability. Lumin pulled her deeper in and didn't stop until they were at a clearing where he turned and looked her up and down. Winna panted slightly from the run and watched him, "Now what? What did you want to tell me?" Lumin smiled through Kaden and placed his hands on her shoulders, "I wanted to tell you that you are beautiful." A blush came to Winna's cheeks at the look of excitement in Kaden's eyes.

"Thank you, but you really didn't need to pull me all the way out here to tell me that." She said as he tightened his grip on her shoulders, "I didn't bring you out here just for that. There is something I've always wanted to do and I want to do it with you, now." Winna wondered at the implication as Lumin suddenly slammed her against the trunk of a large tree and brought his lips to her's. Completely surprised by the action and the intensity of his kiss, Winna stumbled back and had to use the trunk as support.

"Kaden....." She moaned as he kissed down her jaw and neck, savoring the taste and softness of her skin. She was so pure, so full of good intentions and light; it made him sick. He wanted to corrupt her to her very core as he reached up and grabbed her waist, pulling her closer to himself. Winna gasped at his rush and started to become nervous, "Kaden....wait.....please......." He raised his lips to her own again and kissed her deeply.

A clap of thunder shook the ground as lightning filled the sky. Nature was reacting badly to Lumin's presence and Winna could feel the balance shift as her heart screamed a warning inside. Placing her hands on Kaden's strong shoulders, she tried to push him off as he continued to kiss her. It was then that his intentions became very apparent to her as she tried with all her strength to push him away, "Kaden! Stop!" She bit down on his lip and tasted blood as he yelped and pushed away from her.

"So you do have a little fight in you after all, healer." Lumin spoke in Kaden's voice as he wiped away the blood that began to pool on his lips. Winna panted and pulled up the sleeves of her dress, "Kaden, what in the world is wrong with you! What are you trying to do?!" He smiled and scanned her body again, "Isn't it obvious? You aren't that bright are you?" The coldness in his eyes pierced Winna to her core as she watched him carefully, "Kaden.......what........."

It was then that her affinity spoke to her very clearly as she tried to focus on the energy Kaden normally gave off. Suddenly she realized how different it was as she became very still, "Who are you?" Lumin smiled a toothy grin as his eyes lit up with excitement, "Well, well, I take back my previous statement. You are much more perceptive than I gave you credit for. I can understand what he sees you, healer of nature." Winna felt her blood run cold as her blue eyes focused on the being within Kaden's body, "What have you done with him?"

"He's in here, having a little conversation with what he assumes is his father. Unfortunately he isn't as clever as you seem to be." Lumin replied as Winna narrowed her gaze, "You're Lumin aren't you? What do you mean about his father? What have you done?" Lumin smiled through Kaden as he shrugged, "I gave him what he wanted. I have connections to the spirit world, I am one after all. But the young Whisperer is so hopelessly naive that he believes whatever I tell him. Although, not all of it is a lie and when he finds out the truth, I highly doubt he will want anything to do with you or the people of this village."

Winna closed her hand into a fist as she glared, "Release Kaden, bring him back to me, now." Lumin's eyes widened, "Well, look at the spirit you have. I'm very impressed at your courage. Kaden will return at the end of the day, but since I can't have you poking around, making him think there is anything good about this world, I'm going to have to eliminate you from it. Pity, you are very lovely." The words fell on Winna and it took a moment for her to grasp their meaning until Lumin raised his hand and released a ball of flame.

Winna gasped and rolled out of the way, her skirts snagging on a root as she fell to the ground. The fire streaked just above her as Winna turned and avoided another blow. Her affinity wasn't meant for battle, she was helpless against his attacks as all she could do was dodge them. Lumin laughed loudly, "Come on now, try to have a little fun with this! I'm having a great time!" With that he blasted another stream of flame towards her as Winna twisted behind a tree and narrowly avoided the fire.

"What can I do? What do I do?" She asked herself as she tried to find some solution. Her affinity wasn't destructive, she would have to use something else to defend herself as she racked her brain for an idea while avoiding another blast of flame. Just when she felt like she would fall to his power, a loud growl sounded from the trees as a giant wolf sprang and latched onto Kaden's arm. Winna screamed, "Vikas! Don't kill him! He isn't himself! Please!"

Vikas pinned the Whisperer to the ground and growled fiercely as he pressed a paw to the man's throat. Winna ran out from the trees as she yelled, "Don't kill him! Please Vikas!" The wolf king snarled out, "He'll live." Winna watched as the wolf king cut off Lumin's air supply and he choked until his eyes rolled back and he fell unconscious. Once he stopped moving, Vikas removed his paw, but stayed close by as Winna ran out and used the belt from her dress to secure Kaden's hands behind his back before he woke.

Once she had finished she threw her arms around the wolf's neck, "Thank you Vikas. You saved me." He nuzzled her affectionately, "It is nothing. I'm still in your debt for saving my pack. What's going on, my human princess? Why would this human attack you? I thought he was the one who stopped the fire." Winna's eyes watered as she explained, "Something has him Vikas. He is being controlled and the one who did it wanted me out of the way. He isn't himself right now."

The wolf king licked her cheek of the tears that began to fall, "He is very important to you. Is he your mate?" Winna nodded, "In a way, yes. I need to get him back to the village and into Elder Fala, will you help me?" He nodded his massive head and waited as Winna lifted Kaden's body onto his back which was the size of a small horse. As they made their way back to the village, Winna wondered what it was that Lumin had told Kaden and who exactly she would see when he woke up.

Kaden watched the man who claimed to be his father with awe. He stood regally, slightly taller than Kaden, with eyes that were the color of a clear sky. Kaden didn't know whether to hug him or punch him, there were too many emotions to choose from. Kidick placed a hand on his son's shoulder, "You are amazing, my son. I'm so proud of the man you've become. How is your mother? Is Jessah well?" Kaden swallowed the lump in his throat, "Why?"

"Why what?" Kidick asked as Kaden nearly shouted, "Why did you leave us?! What happened to you?!?!"  The sadness that filled Kidick's eyes was heart breaking as he squeezed Kaden's shoulder, "It wasn't my choice to leave you, son. I had too." Kaden shook his head, "I don't understand. No one ever told me what happened to you." Kidick shook his head, "I'm not surprised. It is a secret no one wants to accept about themselves, that they would sacrifice one of their own."

Kaden's eyes narrowed, "What do you mean?" Kidick sighed, "Walk with me, my son and I'll explain. Although, the answer is not one you will want to hear."  Kaden walked through the darkness with his father as he listened to an explaination that shocked him to his core. Kidick spoke without emotion, "I wasn't born in Rinsha. I came there when I was seventeen and was welcomed with anything but open arms. The villagers were hesitant to accept me into their home and treated me like an out cast. It wasn't until I met a woman and I fell in love with her, that they showed any kindness to me. Jessah was my entire world and I lived in Rinsha happily accepting whatever came our way. Then, not long after you were born, darkness decended. Elder Fala and the other's needed to keep the balance and a sacrifice was needed to return order. Naturally, they didn't want to give up one of their own, so they chose the outsider."

"They killed you? The villagers killed you?" Kaden asked as Kidick nodded, "Your mother tried to convince them that I was needed for you and herself, but that didn't matter. Elder Fala said that there wasn't anyone else they were willing to loose. That I didn't belong to this village and they tore me away from Jessah. They tore me away from you, Kaden. They tied me up and sacrificed me to keep themselves safe. I'm sorry, I didn't want to leave you, but it wasn't my choice. I would have loved to watch you grow into the man you are now. You must have been so lonely. It was the villagers who did this to us."

Kaden felt his blood freeze. The villagers? Elder Fala? They kept this secret from him all these years? No wonder Jessah hated them so much. They treated him like an out cast too, because they couldn't live with their guilt! Those bastards, they took Kidick to save themselves!

Darkness began to fill his heart as the world around him became fuzzy. Kidick started to disappear as he gripped his son's shoulder, "Avenge my death, son. Accept the power Lumin has to give you and make them pay for the evil they have done. You are the only one that can do it. Accept the darkness, let it fill you and hold on to your hate. I'll be watching you, my son."

With that Kaden opened his eyes and he was himself again only he was tied to a bed, staring up at the eyes of the woman he trusted as she smiled at him, "Are you all right Kaden?" He looked at Winna coldly, "Get away from me."
