I looked at Austin just as he lowered his head to look at his phone. We are currently in an old fashioned diner waiting for our waitress to come back with our order, two chocolate chip pancakes and two glasses of orange juice. I sat back in the red leather booth and raised my eyes just enough to look around the diner. The majority of the tables were left vacant and a young girl, around sixteen, stood behind the main counter. I recognised her as our waitress. Her blonde hair was thrown up into a messy bun and she had dark circles under her eyes, indicating to me that she was either unbelievably tired or insanely hungover. I went with the lather. An old man sat at a table for two with his wife. They each had a plate of toast infront of them along with a steaming cup of coffee. The old woman had a red scarf loosely handing from the back of her chair. I sighed and took my phone out of my pocket and sent a quick text to my brother, Ryan.
"Do you want anything back from the diner down the street??" I hit the send button and placed my phone on the white table. From my perplexual vision, I saw Austin place his red iPhone down alongside it. I turned to look at him to see he was already looking at me. I smiled shyly at him and he gave me a natural smile as he wrapped his arm around my waist. He pulled me closer to him and kissed the top of my head. My phone violently vibrated on the table and Austin chuckled at me. Embarrased, I grabbed for it straight away.
"Nah I'm G thanks" was the text I had recieved back from Ryan. I locked my phone and lay it on the table again. I looked to my left and saw an old music player and when you put in a quarter it plays music around the whole diner, I grinned to myself.
"Do you have a quarter?" I grinned at Austin. He dug his hand into his pocket but before he took it out, our waitress came back with our food. She placed a plate of pancakes and a glass of orange juice in front of each of us. Austin took his hand out of his jean pocket with some change in it. He held it out to me and I began to look for a quarter.
"I'll give you a oreo milkshake on me if you don't put that quarter in that damn music playing shit," The waitress cut in. Both Austin and I looked up startled to see the waitress, who's nametag said "HELLO! MY NAME IS Alyssa.", holding her head in agony. I guess I was right about the hangover part...
"What size milkshake?" Austin asked her, putting his change back in his pocket and raising his eyebrows at her. I chuckled lightlh to myself as Alyssa sighed.
"Large," she groaned out "I'll even add in extra oreos and two straws." A smile grew on my face and I turned to Austin and nodded my head.
"Deal." Austin stated. Alyssa nodded her head and walked off towards the window that connected the diner and the kitchen. I turned to look at Austin and we both started laughing.
Austin's lips connected with the round top of the straw and he finished off the end of the oreo milkshake. We both stood up and walked to the counter to see Alyssa leaning against it with her phone in her hand. When she saw us coming, she placed it in her white apron and walked over to the cashier. She lazily leaned against it and ran her fingers down her head and rolled stray parts of hair from her bun behind her ear. She connected eyes with me and raised her eyesbrows and smiled.
"Are you new here, I dont think I've seen you around before?" She asked in a questioning tone.
"Yeah, I moved her not too long ago," I replied as Austin wrapped his arm securely around my waist. Alyssa smirked at me and nodded her head towards Austin.
"You've already hooked up with him? Nice one," she sniggered. My cheeks heated up and I felt Austin laughing beside me. Alyssa obviously noted my blush and made sure to embarrass me.
"Awh look at her, she's blushing!" She gushed in a voice that sounded like she was talking to a baby. I shook my head and grinned at the floor. I raised my head to look at her and I raised eyebrows.
"What about you, whats your excuse for getting brickfaced the night before you go to work?" I asked her. She bust out laughing but then held her head in agony, again. Austin and I laughed at her and I opened my bag. I grabbed a box of painkillers and popped out two, I handed them to her over the counter and she took them with a smile on her face.
"How do I know these are Advil and not like viagra or something?" She questioned, averting her weight to her left leg. I shrugged at her and Austin shook his head and laughed at us. Alyssa sighed and looked around the diner and then to the small window that connected the kitchen to the diner. She walked towards it and stuck her head in.
"JOE, IF I START FEELING ANYTHING UP IN TWENTY MINUTES, I WANT YOU TO STRAP ME TO A CHAIR AND DON'T LET ME HAVE SEX WITH ANYTHING. ALRIGHT?" She shouted. Austin and I bustnout laughing and I found it hard to catch my breath. This girl was crazy! Alyssa turned to us and threw the two Advil into her mouth and grabbed a glass of water from behind the counter and quickly drank it down so it was half full.
"I like you," she said smiling at me. "Whats your name?"
"Sophia Johnson," I replied smiling at her.
"I'm Michelle Obama, nice to meet you." She winked at me. I shook my head grinning at her and she took her phone out of her pocket and handed It to me.
"Put in your number, I've a feeling this could be the start of a great friendship," she said, pretending to wipe a tear from her eye. I rolled my eyes at her and saved my number in her phone. I handed It back to her and she extended her arm towards Austin and showed him the phone. I felt him tense up beside me.
"I guess you don't want to put in your number, huh sexy? I might put it online, or maybe sell it to some of your cray ass fans. Those bitches are vicious... Maybe I'll put up my own number and say its yours. I'll charge people $10 a minute to talk to me and I'll offer phone sex, that way I won't have to work at this STD infected diner. What do you say Clark- I mean Austin," she winked at him. I felt like I was going to choke on my own spit. The look on Austins face! He was as pale as a ghost and I couldn't hold it in anymore, I burst out laughing and held on to the counter for support. Alyssa joined me in my laughing fit and I held onto my stomach.
Five minutes later and our laughing finally died down. It had gotten to the point where tears were uncontrollably falling from my eyes and I had the worst cramp in the world. I looked up at Austin to see he was standing there, still traumatized. I grabbed his arm and pulled him in for a hug, mainly just to keep myself from falling on the floor laughing at his current expression. He wrapped his arms around me and I broke away to see Alyssa staring at me.
"Bitch thinks I was serious, doesn't he?" She said to me. I nodded my head and let a roll of laughter escape my mouth. I took my phone from my pocket and handed it to Alyssa. She smirked at Austin.
"Your girl wants my number, you mad dude? You lost her to me. I even feel bad for you," she chuckled at him. Finally, a grin broke out on Austin's face and he turned to me and grabbed my hand and intertwined our fingers. He brought his lips to my ear and I felt his smile in his words.
"Nuh-huh you're mine, baby." he said. My heart fluttered in my chest and I felt the bkush rising to my cheeks again. Austin placed a gentle kiss on my cheek and gently rubbed his thumb against my own.
"PDA guys, this is a public diner!" Alyssa scolded. I grinned at her and she grinned back and handed me my phone. Austin handed her $30 from his back pocket.
"Keep the change." He told her grinning and beginning to walk towards the door.
"Bye babe!" Alyssa shouted after us. We walked out of the diner and started walking towards home. I grabbed my phone from my pocket and opened my contacts, beginning to browse through them. I found the contact 'Michelle Obama, bitches;*' and instantly knew it was Alyssa.
