Fear. Fear is the only thing remotely close to a feeling that she has had for the past 13 hours. Now is no different. With the wind whipping past her body and branches of nearby trees tearing through her long hair, she has never felt more afraid in her entire life.
Have to get away. Have to warn them. I have to warn the others.
These thoughts were set on loop in her brain, endlessly repeating like a broken record. She held no concern for her own safety. The only thing that mattered now was to get away from her pursuers and warn the others before it was too late.
Ka'chink. A small dagger buried itself into a small tree mere inches from her face. This hardly fazed her as she, without stopping, pivoted her left foot, forcing her body to rotate clockwise and, at the same time, pulled a small knife from her pouch with her right hand and released it at the moment of her body's maximum rotation output. The knife made a whizzing sound as it cut through the air and disappeared into the shadows of the forest.
Realizing that the knife she just threw would give away her exact location, she ignored the sound of the painful cry and focused on using the rest of her body's rotation to spring into a spinning flip, flattening her body in mid air. Her intuition served her well, as the sounds of many projectiles flew past embedding themselves into trees and the very earth she had just been standing on.
So many? But none were lethal shots. They definitely want to take me alive, but why?
Landing back on her feet, she continued to run through the forest, past trees and ponds. Suddenly, a small light reflected into her right eye.
If I can break out of this forest, I may be able to thin out their numbers before they regroup.
Before she made the decision to head towards the light, a large warrior came into her view, but instead of changing course, she quickened her pace and raced towards the towering man.
"S-stop! If your don't I'll-"
Not even bothering to listen to the words coming from his lips, she leaped into the air towards the warrior. The man was so stunned by this action that he, instead of charging forward, stepped back lowering his guard. The girl used this opportunity to plant both of her feet squarely on the man's breastplate; then, pushed off with both legs vaulting her body in the direction of the distant light. After absorbing all of the girls momentum, the man stepped back into the knot of a tree root, causing him to fall over with a yell.
Maybe not necessary, but he was in th-
It was too late before she noticed the distant sound of a bowstring hitting an archer's vambrace. Even with her unnatural reflexes, she only managed to fall just under the arrow, allowing it to only slice through a portion of her right shoulder.
Tears filled the corners of her eyes as the pain exploded through her mind. The wound was not necessarily deep, but it bled profusely, causing her light green shirt to change into a much darker shade. Knowing there was no time to bandage the wound, she clamped her left hand over the cut and continued running towards the light.
Must make it...to the clearing.
Her thoughts were beginning to muddle and her physical actions seemed sluggish. The weariness of a 13 hour long pursuit was finally taking its toll.
Not yet. Just a little more.
She had lost too much blood over this long span of time, and now she was forced to allow her shoulder to continue to drip her life force away from her body and into the soil beneath her feet.
