Their So Similar But So Different

She cries over people she loves, who secretly hate her,
He listens to the world, but no one else returns the favour,
She pretends she’s fine although her veins are cold as ice,
He allows no room for others and too much for himself,
They pretend they don’t judge although they hate themselves.
He begs for forgiveness under his mothers hold,
She wishes for her mother to be dead to the world,
He likes to comfort ones with sadness and pain,
While, she begs for mercy in the safety of her bedroom,
They are the same people only with two different personalities.
He likes it when others are happy, with that so is he,
She likes it when someone forgets about her flaws for a moment,
He loves it when his mother adores him and treats him like the only one,
She enjoys music with rich and heavy notes, a relaxing break from the world,
They wish for the world to encounter them sometimes, just a few true friends.
She knows why no one with share a glance with her, while prefer to snigger at her,
He knows why his mother screams and threatens, while she shakes all night,
She knows why the dark, thick slits of skin are open on her skin, bleeding new blood,
He knows why everyone forgets him while he waits there for the ‘thanks’ he never gets,
They know why the police are constantly on their backs, throughout the day and night.
What they don’t know is how long their survival will last and how it will end.

Sat, September 15th, 2012 6:30pmAnother very fluent poem! So deep, so intriguing, I'd love to be let in on how this poem came to your mind. I love how you've got two different people with many a different personality, and yet they are more alike than anybody could be. Beautiful writing.
Sun, September 30th, 2012 12:06amThat was really beautiful, it really does relate to people who put on a different face for other's I think! It's really deep, it's so relate-able...to never know when it's the last straw...
