There I am

in the mirror

staring back at you.

A person, a me

but so full of secrets.

Why is it

that every time I look

I see a new image

A new person is it

that stares back at me?

Where does she come from

this stranger who is

so familiar?

The moment I begin

to grasp who she is

a new face appears

replacing the one

I thought I knew.

A shape shifter

Ever-changing.

I cannot know this girl

long enough.

She leaves me too

suddenly.

I leave me.

I, the girl in the mirror.

The stranger, shape-shifter

so mysterious and so

familiar.

She is me, I am her.

There I am.
