May It Be
When the light first spoke to me, it was bright. Brighter than I ever imagined, it was gentle, loving. Always there for me, unlike my brothers and sisters. I was a fluffy ball of sweetness. That’s what my mother used to say when she licked my golden coat clean. I was a purebred retriever, the best of the best. Yet I didn’t feel all that special. All I could do right now was nose around for my mother’s reassuring scent and milk, and for right now that was all I really needed.
