“It really sucks that you’ll be spending Christmas in California without me” Rose complained and threw me my pair of leggings.

“I know it sucks Rose but I need to get out for a while” I told her.

“Leaving is never an option when it comes to love, doesn’t television teach you anything?” She asked me sarcastically and I laughed.

“Yeah it taught me that real things aren’t always easy and even when you do leave nothing gets easier.  I’m not going to make my life easier, I’m going to make his life easier” I told her.

“Forget about the fool, he loves you but he doesn’t want too.  What hurts more, loving him back or knowing he doesn’t want to love you?” She asked me.

“The second part” I told.

“See so stay and let’s bury him.  I swear you care too much for everyone else and not enough for yourself” Rose told me as a matter of fact tone and I laughed at her.

“This is the reason why I love you Rose, you know all the right things to say at all the wrong moments” I told her and she gave me her astonishing grin.

We were in Ever Blue shopping for tomorrow’s big event.  I was in the other dressing room while Rose was on the other side of me.  We kept passing clothes from above, I’m so glad we fit each other’s clothes.  It really made life easier.

“So what color are you planning on wearing anyways?” I asked Rose.

“I’m going for a red or gold style, you know because it’s December and I want to be in the Christmas spirit since next week is Christmas anyways.” She told me.

“I know, I can’t wait to give your present” I replied.

“What’d you get me?” She asked me.

“Shut up! I am not telling you loser” I told her and she complained.

“You’re a kill joy, just tell me!!!!” She complained some more.

“No! You’ll just have to wait for Sunday” I told her.

“When you leave? You are a true heart breaker” She told me and I laughed.

“I know” I replied and she three me a pair of jeans.

“Ouch” I yelled at her.

“Payback” She said and we laughed.

We came out of the dressing rooms not liking what we found and we sighed and put all the clothes back on the racks.  I walked beside Rose and we exited the store.  It was heart breaking for Rose to walk out of a store without a bag in her hand and she had a pouty face and I smiled and hugged her.

“The perfect outfit is out there” I brought her spirits up.

We were having a good time with laughs and smiles until we got stopped by the Tramp we hated so much.

“Thanks to your big mouth, and to your ugly self I’m no longer with Michael.  I’m so glad you’re leaving to that sad father of yours” She told me.

“My dad’s the president of a huge company that you’re father works under as a clerk so I wouldn’t talk. If I was so ugly you wouldn’t be caught dead talking to me so why don’t you shove your big ego down your throat and fine someone who cares about what you think” I told her and I pushed passed her and Rose flicked her off and we laughed walked away together glancing back and seeing Alisha’s face turn hot red and then she stormed off with her posse on her heals.

“Now that’s what you call dissing, I’m so glad you aren’t a shy type when it comes to girls like that” Rose told me and I laughed.

“You were once a girl like that, maybe that’s why I have this attitude” I told her and she grinned at me and flipped her hair like what Alisha does to get attention.

“Feelings change and I guess you gave me a brain” She told me and I agreed.

We walked into another store but I was stopped in my tracks when Rose pulled my belt and made me face a beautiful long flowing red dress that had gold fleck jewels at the bottom of the train.

“That’s my dress” She said in awe.

“Let’s see how much it is and I’ll get it for you” I told her.

“No, I’ll get it.  I’m not the person to use you for your money my dear” She told me.

“I wasn’t implying that I just wanted to buy you the perfect dress” I told her.

“Well I said no so deal with it, come one” She said and dragged me to the store where the dress was held at.

When we walked in our jaws must’ve dropped so far down to the ground because I couldn’t feel it anymore.  The whole department was filled with the most astonishing dresses any girl could ever imagine.  We ran up to the red dress and looked at the price but there was nothing on it.

“This has to be for sale” Rose said and agreed with her.  Rose would look dazzling in this dress and it just spelled out her name in big bold letters.

“Excuse me ma’am what’s the price for this dress?” I asked one of the store ladies there.

“It is for sale but the price is too high for a bunch of teenagers” She told me.

“Tell me the price” Rose said with a strong tone in her voice.

“It’s a thousand dollars” She said and we laughed.

“It’s a beautiful dress and I’m sure you won’t have many buyers for it, so let’s bargain” Rose said and put on her most flashy grin ever.

“Nope, it’s selling for a grand, it’s either you take it or walk” the lady said.

“I’ll take it” I said and Rose slapped my arm.

“It’s too much” She complained.

“It’s the other Christmas present for you” I told her and she shook her head.

“Why are you holding a thousand dollars in your wallet anyways dear?” She asked me.

“I’m not holding a thousand dollars in my wallet, I’m holding it in the credit card and don’t ask me any more information, I want the dress if you don’t mind” I told her.

“How will you pay back the credit card?” The lady asked me.

“I make good money for a seventeen year old” I replied.

“How is that?” she asked me and took the dress and put it in its box then put it in a paper bag and gave it to Rose.

“I work for my father when I’m not going to school for a living” I told her.

“And who is your father?” The lady asked me.

“You should know him, your father works for him for about twenty years now” I replied.

“Impossible, your Ariana Hendricks?” The woman asked me.

“In the flesh, nice speaking with you but I have a dress to find for myself” I told her and she smiled and shook her head.

“You’re the girl this was sent too” The lady said and gave me a box that was wrapped beautifully in a gold and white Christmas wrapper.

“Who’s it from?” I asked her.

“You’re father of course” She said and I smiled.

I thanked her and Rose and I left the store and walked to the other side of the mall to find us a pair of beautiful shoes to go with our outfits.

“Does your dad know about your big performance?” Rose asked me.

“No he doesn’t, I never told him or Xandra” I replied.

“I still find it funny you’re step moms name is Xandra, it’s so unique” Rose said and I agreed with her.

“Thank you for the dress Ree, I really mean it” Rose told me.

“You’re welcome and I’d buy anything for you” I told her and we hugged.

We walked into the shoe department called Nine West.  There was a Christmas special sale and store wide sales were all 50% percent off and Rose and I jumped for joy.  I couldn’t spend any more money from my card and I had five hundred dollars in cash to spend and so did Rose, we could buy two pairs of shoes then we’d have to buy our moms something like always.  It was traditional for me and Rose, we were going Christmas shopping for our moms and just shopping for ourselves.  I found a pair of gold pumps and I showed Rose them and she smiled so big her eyes went ching.

“You have a good eye for my style huh?” She asked me and I nodded my head.

“We’ve been best friends for a long time my dear” I replied and she laughed.

“Very long, it’s sad we won’t spend our BFA this year” She told me.

“I know, I’m sorry about that again, but I promise I’ll make it up to you when I get back” I told her and she nodded her head.

BFA stands for Best Friend Anniversary and we never missed spending it all together.  Our anniversary was on Christmas day and we were so lucky Santa gave us what we wanted when we were little and we still have each other.  I will MAKE it up to her and Michael.  I’ll never be who I am without their support even Mike.

“You don’t even know what color shoes you’re getting” Rose told me.

“My mom said not to buy shoes only for her” I told Rose.

“Okay I bet she has the perfect shoes for you” Rose said.

“I hope so” I told her.

I bought one pair of boots for me and I bought my mom a beautiful red high heeled sandal and Rose bought her mom flats and then Rose’s gold shoe.

“I think that’s it for shopping right?” She asked me.

“Finally we had one long day” I told her and we laughed and she agreed.
