When we left, a car not too far from us exploded and there was a horde of zombies in the distance. They looked our way, but luckily, there was a car flipped over in front of us so we ducked behind it and waited until they moved on. I looked through the car window and watched as one of them limped slowly this way. Immediately, I sighed because he’s slowly limping, meaning I have to wait until he gets here, realize that there wasn’t anyone here, and watch him slowly limp back. This is trying my patience. He dragged his left broken foot across the gravel, groaning and sniffing the air. Suddenly, he stopped. I watched him turn his head around squawk, that’s what it sounded like, at the other zombies and they all looked our way.

“Ooooh…” She said, trailing the word.

“Shit.” I said. “We gotta go.” They all screeched as they all ran our way. Fucking running zombies! We both got up and took off in the opposite direction. “The Molotov cocktails!” I huffed at her. “Jacket pocket! Throw them!” She reached into the pockets, but only found lint. Where are they?! And then it hit me. Back at the boutique. You know what else I forgot? My staff. I made those things and it took a while and now I don’t have any. Fuck me.

We took a left down an alley and reached a dead end. “Fuck me sideways.” I exclaimed as I pressed my hands against the moldy brick wall. The zombies were all piled up at the front of the alley, salivating and growling at us. “Get behind me.” I told her. She did. “By the way, my name is Riker.” Totally forgot to do this earlier.

“Kyra.” That name sounded so familiar. Well, here we are. All alone with zombies in this alley.

“Nice to meet you.” I said. The one zombie in front pointed at us and the rest of the zombies charged at us. I closed my eyes and just waited for it all to be over. My life. I’m sorry that I couldn’t protect Amari, mom.
