Lights flashed in the alley, distracting the zombies. Suddenly, I heard rapid gunfire. And sounds of bullets piercing their decaying, soft flesh. They groaned and moaned in pain as they all fell to the floor, lifeless…er. The horde of hungry, ravenous zombies was now nothing but another pile of dead bodies. The light flashed on us, nearly blinding us, and there was a figure in the light, almost like he was Jesus. He slowly started walking towards us, stepping on the pile of bodies, atop it like he was king of the hill, not a very funny TV show by the way. Then he slid down and I could see his face clearly. Well, her face clearly. “Who are you?” I asked her while shielding my face from the light. I can’t even get a good look at her without going blind. I’ll just wait until it’s darker than bright.

“Someone who just saved your ass.” She replied with the cockiest attitude I have ever heard in a woman. I couldn’t let her out cock me.

“Please.” I scoffed. “I had them right where I wanted them.”

“Right.” She said tersely, rolling her eyes and turning away. “Follow me, guys. We’re going to take you somewhere safe.”

“ ‘We’re’?” I repeated. She turned back around, smiling.

“Yeah.” Suddenly, swarms of heavily armored guys with big guns made a beeline for Kyra and me, aiming their weapons at our heads. We both held our hands up.

“You’re aiming at the wrong people!” Kyra yelled at them. They gestured us through the alley, over the hill of zombies, into this quiet ass ship that looked like something straight out of a sci-fi movie. It’s blacker than black, makes sense since its dark out, it’s shaped like a gun. Holy shit, it is a gun. Minus the trigger and the hammer on the pack, but it still looks like a gun. It even has the handle a gun has and there was a walkway that slowly protruded from the bottom of the barrel.

When we got inside, it looked way different. I mean, it had all the standard equipment and control panels a ship had. Look, even in the center was the captain’s chair. It looked like the inside of The Enterprise from Star Trek except… black.

“Yo, is that a gunship?” I said. I saw an opportunity and I took it.

“Looks like it.” Kyra agreed. We were pushed inside and the walkway retreated back into the barrel, or the ship, those heavily armed and armored guys went to their stations and took off! “Where are you taking us?”

“To GenePool. It’s a secluded, underground—”

“Bunker.” I finished. “Right?” She nodded. “And what do you want us to do in return?”

“What makes you think we want something from you?”

“Do you?” Kyra said.

“Riker, we need your blood.” She told me.

“Why?” I asked her.

“Because you were bitten, but you’re not a zombie. And your wound is gone. We believe that you may be the cure to this.”

For a while, I just stared at her. Hehehe. I should’ve expected as much. But as much as I want to help them, I don’t, I need to find my little sister and friends. “Find my friends and you’ve got yourself a deal.”
