I was feeling really good about that night: that was the real irony of it all.

I mean, Tanya could rarely ever convince me to head out with her on her little bar-hopping expeditions. I wasn't heavy into drinking and guys like she was, I was a college student and I did my share of casual drinking and hooking up at frat parties, sure, but somehow heading out into the city to mingle with the kind of creeps that just don't show up to the campus parties didn't seem like such a hot idea. Especially after my roommate had her pregnancy scare after a particularly crazy night out on the town.

But, hell. It was the end of the semester, and the year, and with all my finals behind me I was feeling pretty good. I'd managed to find the cutest dress ever, short and silky and red-brown...it gave me the hottest silhouette, especially with my favorite pair of shoes. I'd spent well over a half an hour on my makeup, Tanya had even finally managed to teach me how to get that hot smoky eye look that I could never figure out how to do.

Besides, I needed to take my mind off some things.

I mean, I had normal concerns that any college student might have. My job sucked, my friends were being whores now that school was over and they didn't need me to tutor them anymore, money was tight to say the least...but I was also going through some changes.

I had some forgetting to do, and alcohol would do just the trick.

So I went with her to that stupid bar. We were both only twenty, but she knew somebody in the back, a friend of a friend of an ex-boyfriend of a friend, who let us in. Actually getting the drinks wasn't a problem; there was an abundance of guys around who were only too willing to pay for us.

I lost track of how much I had to drink, I could only assume that it was way too much because I had trouble remembering much else. I met some people, I laughed a lot, I made a couple of trips to the bathroom to primp and whatever...and the rest is a blur.

God, I was so retarded.

I must have blacked out then passed out, because from that point until I woke up, I don't remember anything at all.

And when I woke up, my life would be changed, irrevocably, forever.

For real.
