This poetry is a re-up of my essay called "Superheroes". Please read the essay first and then this poem. Although, there's a little linkage between this poem and that essay, but if you read the essay first, it will develop a realization in your minds related to the people which I've mentioned both in the essay and in the poem. Happy reading! :)

How Many Times?

How many hard times they have survived
How many lies they have lied

How much truth is behind that smile?
Does anybody know how much pain is behind those eyes?

How many times they’ve been told they’ll be losers
Nobody knows they have the courage to be good leaders

Why people think they’re not deserving ones?
Do they know they’ve been struggling throughout their lives?

Why people think they’re naive and destitute?
Everybody thinks they are just hookers and prostitutes

Why do people aim their guns at them?
Is it just because they’ve been protecting the world for them?

They’re birds without wings
Bodies with shattered hearts and dreams
Souls with wounds and griefs

But still they smile
To make people smile

So protect them, is what they actually demand
Before they cease to exist from this cruel world
