*A/N Hello guys! I know it's been So LONG since I have updated and I apoligize for that. One of my new resolutions is to update more regularly now, so please don't be discouraged to keep reading. I have something planned out for the next chapters so I hope you all can get into it again. Blame school for my lateness! :P No it was my fault. Okay, thanks for all who read!*

Ch 8.Troubleshooting

"Why are you wearing your clothes from yesterday?" Chris immediately said when I rushed inside Lucky. He stood with his arms crossed on his chest with a smile that boasted pure malice. It never ceased to amaze me the way black fit him so well. Must be the personality.

"Huh?" I reply walking towards the back room as he follows me in.

"You heard me."

"Uh," I say and took out the spare uniform I had in my locker. "I uh, couldn't find anything to wear. So sue me." I threw my bag inside while carefully laying my camera bag on top of it, like a cherry on top of a Sundae.

"Uh huh, I'm not stupid. I know."

"You know what?" I sat on the bench and took my Keds off, trying to get ready as fast as possible so Chris could stop talking to me. I knew where he was trying to get at with this, but I was trying my best to make him think I didn’t.

"You and Damien spend the night." I looked up to him and saw his stupid smirk.

"Are you just going to stand there while I change?" I asked him just to change the subject.

"Oh. Well hurry up and get to work woman." He said mockingly.

"Yeah yeah." I said. I waited until he left to finally change into my uniform, putting my hair into a bun and proceeded to go outside. As I stationed myself over by the cashier Chris stalked his way over to me, presumably to scowl at me.

"Okay look," I said before he could tell me anything. It was only fun to prolong this for a little while, then it just became tiring. "I'm really sorry I'm late, honestly I did just wake up."

"Whatever. But this isn't a joke.” He said seriously. “Your job isn't a joke and I don't want the fact that you and Damien have some rendezvous the night before to be a liability for you the next day."

"I know. It won't happen again..sir" I said and saluted him.

"Gwen, someday I... Oh forget it."

"Forgotten." I replied and watched him walk away.

The day goes on uneventfully. Costumers walk in looking for a good time which we are bound to give, in a non dirty way. They play their top 40 hits on the screens, eat the fried food, and take pictures of the delicately decorated rooms. Nothing really exciting happened with my co workers either, Jenny the Gossip Queen wasn't here, so hearing her talk about the bitch who ruined her night, is not something I got to hear today. Chris comes and goes as he pleases, drills me questions of professionalism, and makes sure that everyone knows he's boss. Like anybody can forget. As my shift comes to an end I know what's coming to me once I get home. All I can do is sigh. My dad is going to go bat shit, like always, and I'm going to stand there and take it like a man. Once the time hit six and I saw Jenny, I scrambled to the back room to gather my stuff. I changed out of my uniform, and as I gathered my camera bag and purse, Chris came in cocky eyed.

"Oh boy, what now?"

"What? I know of my responsibilities, and I won't be late tomorrow."

"Wait, wait. Why do you always assume I'm here to be an ass."

"Because you are." I slung my bag over my head and tugged onto the straps as a normal mannerism of mine.

"Okay, yeah, but me being an ass is not a way I show dislike." I nod, waiting for him to go on. "The reason I'm here, contrary to your common belief is not to scold you, but to tell you this-."

"And that is?" I asked eyeing him suspiciously.

"I want to be your friend, Gwen." He sighed and ruffled his hair until he went on, "I don't want you to see my as an asshole all the time."

"So what your saying is...?" I asked him as I debated my next move. It was strange to hear him say he wanted to be my friend, it was very unlike the Chris I knew. Well the Chris I knew was Boss Chris and that's it.

"That you can tell me stuff, you know...I just want to be cool." He finally said as he moved away from the door to let me through.

"Yeah okay, we're cool." I looked at him up and down and shrugged. Yeah he was acting like a total weirdo, but maybe he was going through stuff that I had no idea about. I couldn't judge him just face value, so I'll give him a chance. Maybe in the future I'd actually need his help.

On my way back home while I rode the metro I tried to think of excuses to make for my parents. My dad was obviously going to drill me on the matter and even if I was over eighteen, that meant nothing on his terms. So what to say? My mind was blank. Well it wasn't entirely blank, my mind replayed the moments with Nikon over and over.

On my stop I got out in a rather light move seeing as my head was busy feeding me positive messages in order to calm me. So walked up lightly to the apartment.

"Gwen, where have you been?" My mom yelped as she saw me come in. She gripped me from my shoulders for what seemed like hours.

"Work." I answered calmly.

"Gwendolyn, your father is not going to be happy when he sees you." She said as she followed me around the kitchen. Her brown wavy hair was in a messy bun as she trailed behind me. It had been a long day and the only thing on my mind at this point was food.

"Isn't he always?"

"Gwen!" my mom slapped my shoulder. "Now, he's in the living room and he might be a little hot headed and I want you to be as charming as you can." She said in a low voice. "Don't say anything back to him, just let him speak."

"Yeah, yeah." I said and grabbed what seemed to be yesterday's leftovers. I opened the containers, grabbed a spoon and dug in. "Gwen, I mean it."

"Is that Gwen in there?" I heard my dad's gruff voice. I turned to look at my mom who gave me a worried smile. I take one last bite and stomped my feet over to him. I saw him on the couch lounging about as he read his stupid newspaper. Doing nothing, like always.

"Hello, it's me." I said in a nice cheery voice that makes me almost proud.

He continued to look at his newspaper and said, "Where were you last night?"

"With my friend Fabby." I said. When lying to parents one must always make sure never to say too little or too much. If I were to say more, it would be suspicious for them to know I remembered everything so well, so I confirm this statement to be just enough.

"Doing what?"

"A project for my photography class."

"Stop lying to me, Gwendolyn." He said and finally put his paper down. Okay, that theory only works on normal parents, not parents that dislike you.

"You know what? Fuck you." I stated with what I hoped was a neutral expression.

"Gwen!" I heard my mom say as she stood in back of me.

"No let her speak." He said while he stood up.

"I'm tired of you and your shit. I'm not fucking thirteen anymore. I'm not scared of your stupid antics."

"While you live here you talk to me with respect!" He screamed at me while he slithered his way closer to me.

"I'll start to do that when you talk to me with respect. All my life you've treated me like shit while Ramon and Casey have been the queen and king of the household."

"Well you're the only one that has ever been the problem child!"

"Me a problem child?" I was so confused over that statement. Never in my life had I rebelled. I had solely stuck up for myself whenever my dad yelled at me, but I've never done drugs, never been in a fight or done anything like that. "You are so fucking delusional! You're an asshole!" And then I felt it. A hot sting in my left cheek. It felt like someone pressed a flat ironer on my face for a few seconds, but my head was tilted to the side, hair splattered around my face while my palm automatically when up to touch the rawness.

"Rick." I heard the whimpers of my mom.

As I straightened myself up and my lips curled into that embarrassing upside down smile I got every time I'm trying not to smile, I think of what I can do next. I square my shoulders and walked over to a soccer trophy he won when he was young. I touch it carefully at first and then I bang it across the wall as hardest as I could. I saw my dad coming to me so I hit it harder until it starts cracking into pieces.

"What are you doing?!" He screamed and tried to take it away from me.

"You are such an asshole." I say exasperated. I could feel myself becoming tired, like I've been running a marathon for a while. "I hate you. I hate you." I let go of the base and let him have it. He looked at it for a while before he came over to me again.

"Get out!"

"Rick, she didn't mean to-"

"Get the hell out of my house!"

I turned around quickly and rushed over to my room and gathered a bag. I tried to stuff my things into it before my dad came, but that was not successful.

"No, no. I bought you all this stuff, you are not taking any of this."

"This is my stuff! I bought it, you dumbass." I watched as my mom tried to calm him down but it seemed not to be working so I hurried and put in all my necessary stuff. Clothes and my camera.

"Leave and don't you ever come back!" I heard him scream as I ran out the apartment. I entered the elevator and slumped in a corner, feeling so tired and helpless. When the elevator dinged Ramon stepped in with a confused daze.

I stood up and rushed passed him without making eye contact.

"Gwen?" He asked again.

"I'm moving out." I said as the elevator door closed on him.

I went outside the building and walked around for a while.

Shit. Now I was homeless.

Wow. I'm kind of speechless by this entire chapter and I have two things to say. First - talk about curve balls! I didn't see Chris wanting to be her friend or her freaking out on her dad or him kicking her out. Just unexpected! Second - KMU! I really can't wait to find out what happens next!

Holy shit! :O Did her dad just kick her out or what? Oh, man, talk about shitty luck... she's probably got the worst father in history! :O I would've done the same thing if I were in her place, too. Besides, I hate it when people refer to some kid as "the problem child". What the fuck does this mean? We can't all be perfect for god's sakes! It's a very crappy way to say that you don't understand somebody. o.0 I can't believe her dad was so freaking mean to her. :O Poor Gwen, my heart did really go out for her in this chapter cause I can't even imagine what she must be going through. :/ I do wonder what she's gonna do now that she's homeless. :O Wow, that might a problem. :P Who knows? Maybe Chris will come running to her rescue, lol! I'm still not sure whether I'm team Nikon or team Chris. :P You're making it really hard for me to choose! I've been waiting for this chapter to come out for, like, ages, darling! ;P Keep me posted! :) I love this!

Yeah we can't and Gwen hasn't been a problem anyways so wtf is his problem. Yeah he just doesn't get it. I know! My dad can be an asshole but most of the time he's passive and a total jerk, not abusive! that's just fucked up. Yup! WHat to do now! Hmmm well we'll see :D Aww well you can be team Men! Ha :) LOL I know it's been so long, but I'm updating regularly now :) Promise! Thanks for reading Aviana :D Love the new name btw it sounds so airy and pretty!
