Sarah followed Maya, her stomach a bundle of nerves as she ducked down into the large laundry bin, and covered her head with a sheet.

She only had to wait a few minutes, when she felt a jostling, and movement of the bin. Holding her breath, she prayed that she would not be noticed inside.

The bin was wheeled along the corridor, and started to tilt, Sarah realizing that whoever was pushing it, must be taking it over a ramp and into the back of the truck. Seconds later, the bin righted itself, and came to a stop. Sarah then heard a clunk and blackness fall over her.

Peering her head gingerly over the edge of the bin, she noticed that the doors of the truck were sealed, and that she had done it!

Climbing over the laundry to get a higher footing, Sarah slipped over the edge of the tub, and sat on the floor of the truck, not wanting to fall over as its engines roared to life, and she felt it jerk, starting to move.

Feeling in her pocket, she reassured herself that she had her ingredients list, and her prescription. She did not want to have to do this again!

For a few minutes, she felt the truck stop, and start, thinking that they must be at the security stops at the palace walls, and then at intersections leading into the town.

Sarah felt the truck skid wildly, and heard a male voice swearing badly enough to make a sailor blush, quickly followed by Maya scolding the person who had sworn as if he were a child. Sarah chuckled “Good ole Maya” she thought.

The truck gave a couple of gently sways, and then shuddered to a stop. Resting her ear on the front wall of the truck, Sarah heard Maya ask the driver if he could be so kind as to be back in 60 minutes to pick her up, then she heard a door open, and steps walking toward the back of the truck.

Maya opened the door, leaning in and picking up her large purse from the back of the truck. Noticing Sarah looking at her with a raised eyebrow, Maya explained “I don’t really need a bag this big, but I did need an excuse to have to open the back of the truck” she grinned.

Sarah giggled, then dangling her legs over the end of the truck, she slid off, closing the door behind her.

Maya led Sarah to the Growers Market, where she could not believe her eyes at the wonderful selection of fruits and vegetables for her to pick from. Carefully selecting each piece, Sarah’s stomach started to grumble as she thought of the delicious meal that she was going to serve to Ali the following night.

As she was finishing her selection for the main course, Sarah could not help but be tempted by the wide variety of fruits in season. Reaching out to pick up a hand of bright yellow bananas which were her favorite fruit of all she stopped. As she was about to select the ripest and most gorgeous looking ones, she realized surprisingly, that all of a sudden, she could not stand the thought of eating them. “Strange” she thought, but continued on to pick up mangoes and dates instead, not giving it another thought.

Her basket extremely laden down, Sarah decided that she had enough food to last Ali a week… but she could not help herself, all the produce looked so good.

Maya, seeing that she had finally finished, spoke to the stall owner, arranging to have the bill sent to the palace, before taking Sarah’s hand and leading her to the pharmacy.

Entering the doorway, Sarah looked around, realizing how different it looked to the ones she was used to in Australia, and wanted to explore more, but did not want to be late getting their ride back, so she followed Maya to the back desk, and gave the young pimply faced assistant pharmacist her prescription.

Giving her a strange look, the assistant pointed to her name of the script. “This is you?” he asked, raising his eyebrow at her.

“Yes, that is me. I wish the bill to be sent to the palace thank you” she told him.

“Just one moment please” he told her, and then he went through the back door, holding onto her prescription.

The assistant pharmacist walked into the back of the shop, and straight over to his boss. Holding up the script to the head pharmacist, he told him “Look who this foreign lady claims to be. She is trying to bill this to the palace.”

The head pharmacist took the script from his assistant, putting on his reading glasses as he did so. Thoroughly reading the details on it, he turned to his assistant and said “Alert the palace immediately, but keep her here until you have word on what to do from them.”

The assistant walked over to the wall phone, and dialed the palace.

Ali’s new Advisor had spent all morning going through the seized phone records from Sarah’s workmates in Australia, and so far had been unable to track down where the calls had originated from. He had traced them through three different countries, where they had been bounced back and forth, until the trail seemed to just vanish.

Disheartened, he was about to inform Ali of his findings so far, when the phone at his workstation in the boardroom rang.

Picking it up and greeting the caller, he listened for a few minutes, his eyes going wide as he was told the message.

Jumping to his feet, he raced over to Ali.

“Sire, I have the Pharmacy in town on the phone, theysay they have some woman claiming to be your wife, and trying to bill the palace for the medicines she is getting filled out.”

Ali tuned his head toward his Advisor, frowning. “Ask what she looks like please”

Relaying the question, the Advisor was given a description matching Sarah.

“It is Sarah sire, and they say she has an old woman with her”

“Maya…” Ali muttered. “Why was I not informed that they left the palace? Now is not the time for them to be going into the town, it is far too dangerous, why just today, we have had three separate reports of Sandman attacks nearer the village than they have ever been before!.”

Ali was fuming. “Tell the Pharmacist to keep Sarah and Maya there. I will leave at once and collect them.”

“Yes sire” his advisor said, then turning back to the phone to deliver the Sheikh’s orders.

==================================================================================================

As Ali’s jeep sped down the road towards the village, he could not help but be annoyed beyond belief that Sarah and Maya had escaped the palace. If they had asked to go into town, he would have provided an escort, or seen to it personally.

When he got her home, he would bend her over his knee and spank her bottom pink! The thought of doing just that made him smile and shift restlessly in his seat as his pants started to cut in, becoming uncomfortably full all of a sudden.

“Oh yes, a spanking is in order indeed” he thought to himself, grinning widely.

As Ali turned the vehicle into the parking spots near the pharmacy, looking over he saw Sarah just leaving the building, Maya at her arm. The beautiful look of happiness on her face, instantly made him forget his anger with her, and he waved over at her, smiling widely.

Just then, time seemed to almost freeze, as the next few moments were permanently etched into his mind forever.

Ali heard loud popping sounds, which coincided with something impacting into the Jeep’s doors and tyres. Someone was shooting at him!

Ali leant over the seat, flattening himself against it to avoid being hit, but then felt his gut tighten and threaten to upturn as he remembered that Sarah and Maya were out there!

Sliding over the the far side of the jeep, Ali opened the door, and bent over, climbed out and onto the path next the the door.

Looking toward the Pharmacy, he saw that Sarah and Maya were lying on the ground, obviously having dropped the second they heard the gunshots.

“Sarah” he screamed over to her, seeing her frightened face as she wrapped her upper body over the top of Maya, protecting her.

Before Sarah could even look up at him, a white van pulled in front of her, three men dressed identically to the ones at the helicopter attack jumped out of the sliding door on the vans side. Two of the men grabbed Sarah by an arm each, and tried to drag her off Maya.

Sarah screamed and hung on tighter, the third man striking her across her face so that she was stunned enough to let go.

“Nooo! Sarah!” Ali screamed again, starting to run out from the side of the Jeep toward them. Before he could even get two paces clear of the jeep, more shots were fired, landing only a foot or so away from where he was standing.

Ali leapt back behind the Jeep, taking out his satellite phone and screaming down it to the head of his personal guard to being reinforcements immediately.

Snapping the phone shut, Ali watched helplessly as the men bundled Sarah up, and shoved her into the van while she screamed. Maya got to her feet, and charged the third of the assailants, hammering his back with her fists “Let her go!” she screamed at his back.

The assailant turned to look at Maya, then using both hands, shoved her very hard down onto the guttering; a sickening cracking sound could be heard even from over where Ali was hunkered down. Maya screamed, and lay on the ground, rocking while she sobbed.

Ali saw red, there was not a thing he could do to help either of the women. Leaning out from behind the Jeep slightly, Ali tried to see if he could make it to the van now, only to have yet more shots fired toward him. Until his guard arrived, Ali was trapped and had to sit back while he watched them do whatever they pleased with his wife.

The third of the assailants slammed the van’s side door shut, and then ran to the front of the van, climbing in and gunning the engine. Ali tried to make out the license plate, but it had been spray painted over with black paint. There was also dark tinting on the window s of the van, so Ali could not see who was behind them. He clicked up the camera on his phone, taking a couple of shots as quickly as he could.

The van took off, kicking dirt and rocks up behind it, and tore off down the road and out of town.

Ali heard another vehicle start up with a roar, and looked out from behind his black jeep just in time to see yet another white van peeling away from the alleyway next to the pharmacy.

Deciding to see if he was still trapped, Ali gingerly stepped forward….nothing. He then walked out, stepping fully into the road, still nothing. Then it hit him. The second van was obviously the gunmen’s car. This was no last minute decision to take Sarah, these men had come prepared. Someone must have been watching the palace.

Dropping to his knees, and bending over Maya, Ali tried to comfort the old woman who was groaning and crying in pain, her right leg turned at an abnormal angle.

“Hold on Maya, help is on its way” he told her.

Only a few moments later, the guards arrived in their black hummer trucks. Ali sent the first two trucks after the van’s, praying that they would catch up, he then had the third truck ferry Maya to the hospital.

Climbing into the fourth truck, Ali ordered the man to follow the first two trucks, when his phone started to ring and vibrate in his pocket.

Answering it, he was greeted by his physician. “Sire, I think you need to come to the palace immediately”

“I cannot, this will have to wait, my wife has been kidnapped, and I am in pursuit of them right at this moment!”

The physician swore. “This makes matter so much more urgent sire, you need to get Sarah back here immediately”

“I am well aware of this already; of course I want her back now! What is wrong with you man?” he asked, Frustrated for the strange way his doctor was talking to him. “Now let me go, we must catch them before they do something to her”

“Sire, you do not understand, Sarah is in great danger, the blood work I took from her this morning was red flagged immediately, the pathology lab has just rang me urgently, faxing through their findings.”

“What are you talking about? What is wrong with my wife?”

“Well, nothing is wrong sire… she is pregnant, at least 7 weeks along from these readings, which would place conception smack bang in line with your wedding sire.”

Ali dropped the phone.
