Brian awoke from his sleep with perfect timing. He had no alarm clock, just the internal one that seemed know exactly when to open his eyes every night. He rose groggily and wiped the sleep from his eyes before stretching. He peered back at his bed and relived the eternal wonders of the previous evening as he stared at the beauty that still lay there.
There she laid in silence half covered and teasingly half exposed. Her breast were Bare but the blond hair flowed over her tender skin and just covered her nipples from the worlds prying eyes. Her name was Rebecca. She was all but a Goddess in the eyes of anyone who dared to look at her. The aura of perfection that she emitted could pull a man to her like a fly to a bug zapper, and there she lay in his bed, dead.
Brian did not wish to take her life but like all Vampires he too aged at an accelerated rate and only human blood cold restore his youth to him. He remembered all the details, her soft voice, the glow of her blue eyes in the moon light, the smell of her warm flesh. But most of all, Brian remembered her blood. It was hot in his mouth with a hint of copper as if a penny were there. The thickness of it running down into his stomach was wonderful but nothing compared to the feeling of youth returned.
You see it had been sometime since his last human meal. Draining animals could sustain his life but not bring back the youth. In the end Brian was forced to sacrifice the young girl. He could feel the cold tendrils of age and death crawling up his back and sinking into him like his own teeth had sank into Rebecca. As he feed he could feel his flesh tighten and smooth against his body. Youth returned at the cost of another'sdeath.
Brian steeped out onto the balcony of his home. The winter air would have bit into the flesh of a mortal but he felt no cold. Only the breeze gently blowing the hair on his head and arms. The moon was bright overhead and the silver light that was cast made him look like a statue carved of the finest marble. His already pale skin reflecting the light made him glow eerily. As he listened he could hear the creatures of the night go about their own business.
Suddenly he heard something else. He could feel the eye's staring at him, examining him. He noticed the pungent odor of death and blood mixed with dirt and grime. He couldn't see anything in the shadows but knew that someone was there watching. Someone he didn't care to waste good conversation with.
"Damn it Brian, how do you do that?"
A tall man with teeth to big for his head emerged from the shadows behind him. His clothing was torn and covered in dirt and blood. He was Marcus. The messenger of the elders. Not quite human nor vampire. Closer really to an animal with a mans form. And his presence was always something to be worried about for it meant to elders had something to say. And Brian agreed very little with the elders on anything at all.
"Well Marcus if you must know, you smell like pig shit that has baked in the sun for 3 days and then been stirred," replied Brian while attempting not to smell the foul thing before him.
