Sorb and Sixel ate lunch in the hospital cafeteria. Sixel ate as energetically as he always did, but Sorb, who was not feeling so excitable, ate slower.

Damn it…he thought as he gritted his teeth in anger, I wasn’t… I wasn’t around to help any of them…

It took a while, but Sixel noticed Sorb tightening his lips in his sadness, and sighed as he closed his eyes.

He knew full well how Sorb felt, and while he would never admit it, he felt the same way.

“Are you sure you’re okay?” asked the nurse as she looked at Reed worriedly.

“I’m sure,” lied Reed with a fake smile, “I just had a bad dream, that’s all.”

“Okay…” said the nurse reluctantly.

She had a feeling he was lying, but she had no way of knowing for sure.

“Do you want some water?”

“Yes, please,” replied Reed as he rubbed his head.

The nurse walked out of the room to bring him a cup of water, and Reed sighed as he closed his eyes and buried his face in his hands.

Dante heard the sound of footsteps running through the halls, and spoke out when he realized what was happening.

“It’s okay!” he called out in between pants, “I…just finished…using the bathroom… It was a big one… I’m fine…really… My arm is fine… I have regenerative healing… You don’t need to come in…”

He really did not want anyone to walk in and see Roger, so he made up that very embarrassing lie.

Roger smiled as he looked at Dante, to Dante’s annoyance.

“Shut up,” snapped Dante, “Do you want them to come in and see you? What are you doing here?”

“I came to check up on you,” responded Roger, “It’s a good thing I didn’t come when you were actually using the bathroom.”

Dante shook his head as a small smile uncontrollably grew on his face.

“You bastard…”

“I see you’ve recovered from that broken arm of yours.”

“All I can say is thank goodness for regenerative healing,” said Dante as he felt his injured eye with his hand, “You know…when I snuck into the prison and told you about our plans to infiltrate the TAZYER headquarters, I did so because I felt you needed to know, not because I wanted you to face George alone. Still…if it weren’t for you, I don’t think any of us would be alive right now, so…thanks for your help, man.”

Roger did his best to keep it together as he thought about how Dante had allowed him, his enemy at the time, to live.

Dante smiled as he closed his eye.

“You don’t have to thank me,” he said, “You saved everyone’s lives when you confronted George. We’re good, so don’t get so emotional on me.”

“You bastard…” said Roger with a small grin as he shook his head.

It was then that Roger disclosed to me George Louis’s past. I guess he had done a little investigation into George’s history while he had worked under him. Apparently, his mother died when he was young, and his father became an alcoholic when that happened. His dad threw him into the streets at the age of eight, so he was forced to fend for himself until he was discovered trying to steal food from a rich family at the age of eleven. The family was kind enough to take him in, and raised him as their own. After he graduated from high school, he went into the military for eleven years. He developed friendships capable of lasting a lifetime, and became romantically involved with a woman. With all those good things going for him, it seemed like George had no reason to become the man he is today…

That’s why I couldn’t believe what Roger told me next.

All of his comrades died at one point or another during the last year of his military career. All of those precious relationships were taken away from him, and to top it off, his military girlfriend was violently raped by her commanding officer. That’s when the good George Louis finally snapped. He developed hatred for the world as it was, and wanted to do something to change it. He left the military, and went to college to get more education. That’s where he got the idea that he had to obtain power and control the world to make it better. He grew obsessed with the idea of world domination, and that obsession drove his girlfriend to leave him.

This was certainly unexpected… I never would’ve imagined that this man…this cold, hardened man…was so…human... Now that I know about his past…I don’t know how to feel about him… One thing’s for sure, though… He has to be stopped.

When Dante walked into Soli’s hospital room, he saw Soli lying under the covers of his bed.

“Hi, Dante,” he greeted as he motioned for Dante to come and sit.

He saw the sadness in Dante’s eyes as Dante pulled up a chair and sat at his bedside.

“Don’t worry,” he said with a smile, “The doctors are doing what they can to sustain me. I won’t die just yet… How are things?”

Dante sighed before he began to speak. “Roger visited me in my hospital room. Looks like he’ll be working with us now, eh?”

“It’s all thanks to you…” said Soli with a smile, “You’re the one who decided to spare him…”

While I wanted him dead…

Dante sighed as he slumped in his chair.

“What’s the matter?” asked Soli caringly.

“Roger told me about George’s past…” he responded without making eye contact with him.

“Judging by that look on your face, George Louis’s past isn’t pretty… You’re wondering whether or not you should kill him, aren’t you? George Louis has done bad things, Dante. His plans for this world will lead to more bad things.”

“Listen,” continued Soli as he sat up, revealing a number of bandages he had wrapped around his abdomen, “I know you don’t want to hurt people who are suffering or who have suffered, but you have come too far to turn back. Despite the reasons for his actions, despite whatever good intentions he claims to have, he has to die. I’m sorry, Dante…but you know I’m right.”

Disconcerted, Dante buried his face in his hands as Soli coughed and sunk back into bed.

Things are not looking so good for my grandpa. This wouldn’t have happened to him if I had been strong enough to fight George… I wanted to gain experience... I wanted to show off my skills in battle, but the truth is, no matter how much I want to believe I’m strong, I’m not. I charged at George alone, and that cost me my eye. What the hell was I thinking? I’m not strong enough, and I’m not smart enough…but I will be soon enough.

I told myself that danger could come as much as it wanted. I told myself that all hell could break loose, that I’d close the gates of hell if they opened up. I told myself that I didn’t give a shit what happened because I’d be strong enough to deal with whatever came my way, and I want those words to be true… I will make those words true... I will gain the strength and smarts needed of me, so that when the fateful day comes when I face George again, I will not fail.

A mostly recovered George Louis smirked villainously as he and his last remaining associates crossed the border and walked into Thailand. These men were George’s most powerful allies, and their names were Miles, Andres, Tim, Bryant, Stanley, James, and of course, Bingham.

“Soli, Dante, and the rest of those people have been getting in my way for too long now,” said George with a villainous smirk, “They must be taken out before I can continue with my plans. Of course there is an easier way to go about doing this, but I want to make them to suffer before I eliminate them. Our primary goal here is to locate them and take them out, but feel free to kill anyone you wish. I shall not judge. This is the beginning of the end… The invasion of Thailand begins…now!”
