In the morning, a twelve year old Reed Anthony walked into the middle of an empty field to train, but stopped when he sensed someone else’s presence in the area.

“Hello?” he called out.

No one responded.

“Is anyone there?”

Once again, no one responded.

Oh, I am not playing this game, thought Reed, annoyed.

“Look,” he said a little more seriously, “I know you’re there. I don’t know who you are or what you want, but show yourself.”

“I’m surprised you actually had the power to sense me,” said a voice behind him.

Reed turned around, and his eyes widened as looked at the person who had spoken in complete shock and awe.

“Victor…”

What the…?, thought Reed in complete surprise, What’s…going on here…? Vic…can’t talk…

Due to his particular affliction of autism, Victor was incapable of using words. He could only make sounds, so Reed could not understand what was going on at all.

“Victor…?” he asked, “Wha…?”

Victor crossed his arms as he waited for Reed to figure out what was happening.

After about a minute of thinking, however, Reed finally realized what had happened to his precious brother, and his eyes widened in fear, for Ukaku had finally told him something like this could happen a few months ago. The veins on his forehead and neck bulged as he gritted his teeth in fury.

“Iemo…”

Truly furious that Iemo had taken over the most important person in his life, Reed glared at Iemo with fierce rage.
For the past two years, he had trained long and hard with Ukaku so he could wield Ukaku’s power and defend both himself and his brother. Even though he did not know at the moment how he would protect Victor, he knew he would. His eyes turned completely blue, and blue energy glowed around his body in an untamed way.

He cracked his knuckles as Iemo looked at him arrogantly. “Aw!” exclaimed Iemo mockingly, “Are you upset that I’ve taken over your precious brother?”

“I don’t know what you think you’re doing,” began Reed fiercely, “but I’ll stop you. I won’t let you control that boy!”

“Is that so?” asked Iemo sarcastically, “What makes you think a foolish and weak child like you has the power to stop me?”

Iemo smiled, and Reed gritted his teeth as they aimed to punch each other. They dodged each other’s blows, and Iemo tried to kick him in the stomach, but Reed grabbed his foot. Iemo quickly freed his foot from Reed’s grasp, and tried to punch him in the face, but Reed grabbed his arm and picked him up off the ground. Sorry, Victor, he thought as he shook Iemo around in the air for two seconds before slamming him onto the ground with a thud, making Iemo grunt in pain.

This guy is gonna pay for making me fight my own brother!

Iemo jumped back to get some distance between them, and the two glared at each other as Iemo quickly blew a bunch of bubbles from his mouth and onto the battlefield. Reed jumped high into the air when they came close to him, but Iemo leaped into the air after him.

He took a deep breath, and Reed did the same, for he knew Iemo was going to blow bubbles at him again, and thanks to Ukaku, he knew those bubbles were acidic. Indeed, Iemo blew more acid bubbles at him, but Reed defended himself by breathing fire, which burned the bubbles before they could touch him. This continued until they landed on the ground, at which time they blurred at each other and aimed to punch each other.

Their punches clashed, and the force of their blows created a small shockwave. Reed yelled with fury, and the two began to throw punches at each other one after another. Every punch that was thrown clashed with an opposing punch, but this did not stop either of them from attacking.

“You don’t have the strength to defeat me,” said Iemo, “and you know it. That anal abscess you got when you became afflicted with Crohn’s disease left you unable to walk without pain, so you went a month without physical exercise.”

Reed’s eyes widened in surprise, for he did not expect Iemo to mention this uncomfortable topic.

“That abscess may be gone, but you’re still trying to recover, physically and mentally. It doesn’t matter how much Ukaku enhances your strength. You’ll never get over the painful memories.”

“Shut…up…” said Reed as he panted.

He was trying his best to focus on the battle, but now Iemo had begun to distract him by forcing him to think of the pain of his past.

“I am impressed with you, though,” said Iemo, “How many twelve year olds could endure months of excruciatingly painful defecations?”

That last comment really affected Reed, and he lost focus as a result. Iemo managed to punch him across the face three times, and Reed gritted his teeth in pain when Iemo grabbed him by his neck.

“You’re weak,” said Iemo, “You won’t be able to dodge this next attack. It was your choice to fight instead of flee, so remember, kid…you have no one to blame but yourself for what happens next…”

Reed’s eyes widened when he realized what Iemo was talking about, and looked around the battlefield to see acid bubbles floating all around them, the ones Iemo had blown onto the battlefield earlier in their fight; the ones Reed had dodged by jumping into the air.

“These explosives are all around you!” asserted Iemo, “All I have to do is set them off.”

“Are you crazy?” exclaimed Reed, “If you do that, you’ll blow up Victor!”

“Why should I care what happens to him? A demon does not die when its host dies. Upon a host’s death, a demon’s spirit rises from the host’s dead body. I won’t die…”

Iemo smiled as Reed’s body shook in anger. “That’s right,” he continued, “Now you see the mess you’ve gotten yourself into. I will kill you and your brother, and then I will take over your father’s body, kill your mother, and wreak havoc on this world.”

Ukaku was nervous. He knew that Reed would not be able to get himself out of this situation alone, but he was hesitant to possess Reed himself. He could have done so from the very beginning, but he cared enough about Reed to never want to do such a thing. Their relationship had come so far. He also knew that if he possessed Reed, his concentrated power would take a toll on his body.

I don’t want to take over him…thought Ukaku, but…it doesn’t look like I have any other choice… Either I can take over him and help him…or let him and his brother…die… Damn it!

Reed,” yelled Ukaku, “You need to let me take over your body!”

What? Why? Why do you need to do that? I don’t want you controlling me! Besides, won’t my body hurt afterwards?

Reed grunted as he looked at Iemo with fury. “What is wrong with you?” he yelled with rage, “Why are you doing all of this?”

“I’m a demon. It’s what I was destined to do. It’s what Ukaku was destined to do too. He likes to act like he’s better than that, but don’t let him fool you. He’s on your side now, but someday, he’ll take over your body and use it to wreak havoc too.”

“I don’t want to do this, Reed, but you can’t access all my power! Hosts can never access the full power of their spirits. There are some things only I can do, and the only way you guys are gonna make it out alive is if you let me control you!”

Reed gasped as these lethal bubbles floating all around him suddenly began to shake violently.

“I promise I won’t do anything bad while I control you!”

Damn it all!, thought Reed as he gritted his teeth and closed his eyes.

Iemo gasped in surprised when Reed’s hair suddenly became engulfed in flames.

“It’s too late!” exclaimed Iemo, “You’re dead!”

Iemo was about to make all the bubbles detonate…when he suddenly felt that something was wrong.

Huh…? What’s happening to me? It feels like I’m…on fire…but he’s not burning my body… He’s burning my spirit! He shouldn’t be able to do that unless…Ukaku!

Iemo sweated, and closed his eyes as he slowly fell to his knees. He grunted in pain as he felt his spirit burn away.

“This is the end of you,” said Ukaku, who now possessed Reed’s body, “I will not let these boys die because of you!”

Iemo yelled in pain, and watched as the bubbles he had scattered across the battlefield began to pop.

“No!” he yelled, “You piece of shit! Damn you!”

“Your time has come!”

“You bastard!” yelled Iemo as his bubbles continued to pop.

“Goodbye, Iemo...”

“You fool! Don’t think you won’t pay for this! Someone will come after you one day to avenge me, I promise you that! I will have my vengeance!”

Ukaku smiled as the bubbles Iemo had spread across the battlefield were reduced to one. When Iemo’s spirit was finally completely incinerated, the last bubble popped.

Victor’s consciousness regained control of his body, and he fell to the ground in exhaustion.

Ukaku closed his eyes, and released Reed from his control.

Reed gasped upon regaining control of his body. His body hurt all over, so he could not help but fall on his back in exhaustion as well.

Tears welled up in his eyes as he looked at his precious, unconscious brother.

Ukaku…thank you… I know you thought there was no hope for him…but you knew that I would never have allowed any harm to come to him…that I would’ve given up my life for him if I needed to…because you knew I felt he was the only person I could talk to, even if he couldn’t understand me…so you saved him for me… You saved both of us…and for that…I am eternally grateful…

Huh… Wait ‘til Mom hears about this…
