“Is that really all you want,” I said and he nodded. The thought of dating a super- hot vampire was almost any girls dream.

His green eyes were even brighter than usual and he was wearing his usual clothes. Black leather jacket, white under shirt and black jeans. The thing to top it off was the black beanie he wore on top of his head. That was new. He held himself tall and boldly, always on guard. You couldn’t tell he was toned until he moved around and that wasn’t very often.

“I have to tell Star though. I can’t just run away and not tell her what’s going on.” I said and this peaked his interest. His arms were crossed and he rose his eyes brow.

“You can’t tell them that you are going to be a vampire,” he said blankly and I smiled at him teasingly.

“You heard the man, I am going to be the ultimate vampire. What’s the worst that can happen,” I asked and he shook his head.

“Your weakness is the things you love, if they know about you then they will think that you told them more than just what you are,” his tone was serious and without a doubt a warning.

“I..” I stammered and then stopped. “So that means I don’t get to see my mom and Scarlet again,” I asked and he softened his look.

“No, it just means that you can’t tell them anything. Just say that you had to leave and it was important. You’re of age and they won’t be able to do anything,” he said and uncrossed his arms. He placed his hand against my face and looked into my eyes. I could feel my knees buckle and my brain turned into mush. “It won’t last forever, just until you are safe.” He said and I swallowed hard. The warmth of his touch was soothing and I relaxed.

He was right.

“You can change me but I want to spend one last night here before I have to leave,” Sam hesitated before agreeing with me. I smiled at him in gratitude and he also smiled.

“So that means yes,” he said in a teasing tone.

“That I will be your girlfriend,” I asked.

“Of course.” He said and I could hear the hidden joy in his voice that was masked with the badass guy tone. I chuckled and nodded. He placed his hand under my chin and lifted it so that we were face to face. “I have been wanting to do this for a while.” He said and I looked at him with confusion.

He planted his perfectly formed lips on mine and a warmth traveled through my entire body. The fireworks that they explain in fairytales were exploding in my head and it felt like we were the only ones left in the world. When we parted lips the warmth lingered around a bit longer. I was breathless and both my brain and body were screaming more. He smiled and I realized that he was keeping me upright. I flushed from embarrassment and pulled myself together.

“Okay, so what next,” I asked. He laughed to himself and shook his head.

“I bite you,” he said and I nodded in understanding.

“If you have to feed wouldn’t you be turning the humans you feed off of,” I asked and he once again shook his head with a smile.

“We don’t inject the venom in a human when we feed. Only when we intend to make a vampire,” he said. “I hope you don’t mind getting a little dirty though,” he added and I rose my eyebrow.

“What is that supposed to mean.” I asked and his smile deepened. It was a little devious and it concerned me.

“Well after I bite you, you are going to die. I have to bury you in the ground and you have to dig your way out,” he responded and my mouth dropped.

“You are going to bury 6 feet under,” I asked in shook and this made him laugh.

“You have it lucky. I got buried in stones,” he said and I suppressed a laugh. “Yes I have to bury you as if you are really dead. I won’t be here when you rise and I will leave blood bags in your room. It won’t taste as nice as fresh blood but it will give you enough energy to wash and last through the night. I will be back in the morning to get you. Don’t leave the house while the sun is up.” he said and I was making all of this a mental note in the back of my head.

“Dig out of the dirt, blood bags, and no sun. Got it.” I said and looked at him. “I’m ready.” I said to him and he smiled on last time.

He took my hand in his and walked us over to my bed. I sat down and he made my lay back. I watched him as he sat next to me and pushed all of my hair to one side. I relaxed and he leaned in. I felt his breath against my neck and soon came the touch of his lips. I felt the fangs sink into my neck and it didn’t hurt like I dreamt it would. He rose from my neck and for a few minutes of us looking at each other nothing happened.

Suddenly there was a burning in my neck and it slowly started spreading through my veins. My eyes grew very heavy and my heart beat was racing faster than I had ever felt before. My entire body was on fire but it didn’t hurt like it should have. I felt the venom traveling through each of my veins and like snake. I went under a blanket of darkness and my heart abruptly stopped beating. This was it. My death.

My eyes fluttered open and I was staring at the inside of a box. I looked around and hit the side of it firmly. I was inside of a coffin. My body felt stronger and very different. I looked at my hand in front of my face and my skin was very pale from what I could see in the dark. Surprising a lot. I could hear the leaves blowing around in the wind from above the ground and I could smell the blood that Sam must have left for me in my bedroom. As the scent of blood entered my nose I could feel the desire for it deep within me. My fangs came out in a hurry and I shook my head for control.

One thing at a time.

I tapped the lid of the coffin with my hand and it broke open causing dirt to pour in on top of me. Must be stronger than I thought, but before long I started to panic for air but realized that I didn’t need it. I broke open the coffin more which only caused more dirt to fall on top of me. I started to dig my way through the dirt, and when my hand broke through the surface I felt relieved. I pulled myself up and when I got the dirt out of my eyes I stood and looked around.

I must have been dead all day.

It was dark outside and a breeze hit me filled with the scent of blood. I smelled the air once more and turned towards my window. It was open and the urge took over, I jumped into the air and landed on my window sill. The blood was on my bed and I walked hopped in without even making a sound on the floor.

I was still completely covered in dirt and mud. I snatched up one of the three blood bags and my fangs sunk right into the thin plastic of the bag. The blood flooded my mouth as if I sunk my teeth into a mouth full of fruit gushers. I sucked the bag dry and went for the second one in seconds. After all three bags were empty and I was no longer hungry for blood I turned towards the bathroom. The door was closed and I looked at myself in my body mirror.

My eyes were glowing as if I was staring into a set of golden cat eyes in the dark. My skin was pale and under all the muck it looked flawless. I stood straighter and I actually had a chest and a butt. My hair had grown longer and felt much thicker, but it was probably all the dirt packed into it.

I opened the bathroom door and stripped off all of my dirty clothes. I opened the curtains quickly to check for intruders and I turned on the water. I waited for it to reach the right temperature and as I waited I began to sing to myself. I began singing Over My Head by The Frey and as I heard my voice I was shocked. I could have sworn someone else was here singing with me. My voice sounded more mature and I smiled.

I actually sound really good when I sing. Well I always sound good. I thought with a smile.

I walked into the shower and the mud ran down my body. I started scrubbing it off and when my body was squeaky clean it was time to work on the hair. I put my head under the running water and I watched the brown water run down the drain. I scrubbed my fingers through it and clumps of mud hit the tube floor with a splat.

The bathroom was steamy when I opened the curtain and I snagged the towel. I started drying my hair and the rest of my body before I wrapped it around me. I walked out of the bathroom and went to my dresser. I dropped the towel to the ground and grabbed a pair of my clean underwear. After I had the needed under garments on I walked to the closet. I grabbed out my tight black jeans along with a leather black corset that strapped around your neck and walked back to the mirror. My hair was blacker then normal and my face was perfect. My eyes were still glowing a beautiful gold and I was defiantly much paler then I used to be.

A loud ringing took me out of my trance and I looked around to see my phone on the table lit up. I walked to it and saw that Star was calling. I picked up the phone and hesitated. I went to ignore the call but instead I answered. I put the phone to my ear.

“Hello,” I said.

“Woman, why haven’t you called me,” she said in the phone and I pushed it away from my ear quickly. It was as if she was yelling in the phone but I realized it was just me.

“Sorry Scarlet I have been kind of busy,” I answered but keeping the phone away from my ear.

“You can never be too busy for me baby girl,” she said and I smiled.

“Well I was so you are going to have to get over it,” I said and I heard her laugh.

“Okay, fine then, but you owe me the details of your date with mister sexy,” she said and I rolled my eyes.

“I asked him questions and then he answered them. There wasn’t much to tell so I left out all the boring details, meaning the whole thing in general,” I said and I could hear the frown forming on her mouth.

“LIAR!” she yelled in the phone and I nearly threw the phone across the room. “You can’t hide anything from me Rain, so spill those juicy beans,” she said and I couldn’t help but wish that I could. So I improvised.

“Fine, he said that he liked me. That’s all, are you happy.” I said and she giggled to herself.

“That’s my girl.” I rolled my eyes again and smiled. “Well I’ll see you at school tomorrow. I have to get started on drawing Nathan’s sweet ass,” she said and I gagged in the phone.

“That is again way too much information for me, and I won’t be in school tomorrow,” I said.

“Why not,” she asked and I could hear the curiosity.

“I can’t talk about it, but I am going to be gone for a while,” I said to her and again the frown returned.

“You can’t leave me here in this hell alone. You know how I get when I don’t have you around,” she said and I frowned as well.

“Don’t beat up Kacie, she isn’t worth it and you know it,” I said and she laughed.

“Caught me red handed.” She said and I had to smile again. “Well I have to go sugar, because one of us is going to be in class and I have a project to get started on,” I sighed to myself but she couldn’t hear it.

“Okay, I will talk to you when I can,” after that we ended the call and I just looked at my phone. I started at the wallpaper of my phone. It was Star, my mother and I standing in front of the door before we went out to a house party down the road. We were in matching red dresses with our hair up and pinned to the side.

The light went off on my phone and I pocketed it. I grabbed a bag and tossed in a bunch of clothes and all of my essentials. I stopped and listened. A car was driving by and I looked at the clock. It was almost 2 in the morning and my mouth dropped. I have been dead for nearly twenty-four hours. As I was distracted I heard a loud banging and cracking noises. I turned to look and a large group of men were standing in my doorway holding shields and guns. On their vest were large letters saying SWAT.

I held my hands in the air and stepped back slowly. One of the guys pulled out a radio and spoke into. “We have her,” he said into and I started stepping back faster. All of them were aiming their firearms directly at me. I could hear more down in the front of my house along with what sounded like the whole police force. “Stop moving or we will shoot,” One of the men said loudly and I stopped.

My instincts started to kick in and I somehow managed to make it out of the window in mire seconds, but as I expected my entire yard was full of vehicles and men in gear with guns. How the hell am I supposed to escape all of this? Many of the vehicles had drivers ready to make a chase if I decided to run.

This only happens in movies.

Someone was started talking into one of the loud speakers and I cringed with the noise. “Get on the ground,” he yelled into it and I held my hands over my ears. I growled under my breath and I started to feel the anger bubble up within me.

“What are you here for,” I said and my voice was loud as I spoke. They didn’t answer but I could hear the men get their guns ready. I looked around and sadly I was surrounded. I was going to have to run for it, I took a deep breath and I ran. I heard the guns fire and some people gasp wondering how I had vanished. That’s what it looked like anyway. As I ran to the road I pushed a few of the men out of my way. I pushed them harder then I meant to because they knocked down a few rows of men. I could hear the sirens in the distance coming my way.

I stayed to the shadows as I ran. Who could have called the SWAT team on me, and why would they have done it? Brent maybe but I was a big part of his plan. Unless since I basically told him no. I was standing in front of the Charles Towers North Apartments when I felt like I had made a good amount of distance.

I walked inside and the manager smiled at me, the TV was play behind him and my face was on the news. When he looked to see what the amber alert was about I could sense the increase in his heart beat. He was nervous. I shook my head and walked to the staircase. It would be faster if I took the stairs. I made my way to the roof of the building and pulled out my phone. I started to get an overwhelming scent of blood all around me.

I was in a very populated area and I could smell their blood in the wind. I walked to the edge of the building and looked down at the crowded sidewalks. My nose flared with the scent and I choked the urge away. I pulled out my phone and sent Sam a text message.

“Bad news. SWAT team showed up at my house, don’t know why. I’ll contact you when I can,” I sent the message and I put it back into my pocket.

I heard the door fly open and bash against the wall. Many pairs of feet were stomping their way over to me. They stopped a few feet away and I turned to look at them. I could smell the blood rushing through their veins and I could hear their heart beats. I tried to focus on the serious matter on hand. They were aiming guns at me and I fell.
