Morning was a very warm bed, a dark window, and a suffocating grip around my waist courtesy of the blonde snoring loudly behind me. I managed to slip out of his grip without waking him and found myself pressed up against the wall, Shizuo spread out over the entirety of my bed. I sighed rather loudly in irritation and pushed myself up, jumping over him and landing on the floor with a heavy ‘thud’ that left me motionless, wondering if I woke anyone. My breath finally escaped as the silence was broken by Shizuo’s snoring, and I smiled to myself as I padded over to my closet. I picked out a pair of comfortable jeans and a light blue tee-shirt with a skull eating a dove and lay them over my study. I took my bandages off, stuffing them into a drawer and taking new bandages out and dressing in my running clothes. I stuffed the clean bandages in a small bag and stretched my muscles out. Then, only after checking on Shizuo, and Kasuka, who were both sleeping heavily, I slipped into my joggers and made my way downstairs and outside. I checked the sun, barely over the horizon, and judged that I had at least a few hours to myself. I made my way out of the grounds and was about to start running before an unexpected figure made its way out of the darkness and toward me. I strained my eyes and made out a male figure in jeans and a furred jacket with thin black hair and- red eyes?

“And who are you?” I frowned and folded my arms in an attempt to hide as many scars as possible, keeping an otherwise neutral position.

“Now, now, now. What a way to treat a visitor” the male seemed dangerous… In just the way he laughed and held himself, I found the hairs on the back of my neck prickling in warning. His red eyes seemed to glow as he scanned my figure, almost appreciatively, and I folded my arms further into my chest, snorting and then baring my teeth, letting out a small growl of warning.

“My, my, a lot like Shizuo aren’t we?” He smirked and I felt the alarms in the back of my mind go off.

“And who wants to know?” I leant against a pillar of stone and kept my eyes on him, my mind alert.

“The name’s Izaya Orihara, and you?” his own predatory eyes followed every one of my movements, and I snorted as everything clicked and I realized where I knew him from.

“Kurisutaru Ai, I’m surprised you forgot me” I pouted and watched him from under my lashes, he looked confused for a minute before his eyes widened and his smirk only grew. “Still running, I gather?” I picked at my nails nonchalantly and saw him frown.

“I’m looking for Shizuo, Kuri-chan” I walked purposefully towards him and watched him closely.

“I thought they left you in control of information, not intimidation” even though he was taller than me, he shrunk away as I came closer, and bared his teeth. I was still confident, he might still challenge me, even after I’d taught him his lesson a long time ago, but my confidence wavered as I wondered how much he’d changed since then… Was he stronger?

“Now, now; don’t try that on me” he brought his hands up in front of him “I’m not scared to hit you” he smirked, “but I’d regret damaging such a cute face”.
I snorted and was about to turn away before I felt a hand cupping my cheek. I turned instantly; ready to lash out, before I felt soft, smirking lips against my own. I felt my eyes go wide, my back being pressed against the stone pillar, my arms going limp somewhere between a fist, and pushing him away, resting on his chest as my eyes closed. I couldn’t think straight, my brain going fuzzy in the kiss. Izaya nibbled lightly on my bottom lip, and when I realized what exactly was happening, I found myself in shock. I forced Izaya away from me with some difficulty, and growled, wondering what unheard of idiocy led me to enjoy that kiss, before he laughed. “You’re just like before” his hand was against my ribcage, and he smirked, “so fragile and-” his smirk became more evil, “breakable”. I pushed myself away from him, but his hand snaked around my waist, pinning me to the pillar of stone behind me. His hand snaked under my shirt, and I realized all the time I had also meant the more time Izaya had… Flashes of crimson, bare skin and pain invaded my thoughts as Izaya traced some of the freed scars with a cold finger, his mouth by my ear. “I remember these, Kurisutaru-chan” he smirked and pulled a knife out of his jacket, ceasing my struggles as my eyes widened.

“no” I muttered, seeing his smirk grow, “no, I refuse” I felt my voice shake as he neared my stomach with the knife, and I took a deep breath. I was not going to do as he wanted. I’d had enough of that before. He licked the shell of my ear, and I shivered, in disgust.

“We can do this the easy way, or the hard way” he whispered, pressing the blade into the front of my hip. I mustered my courage and growled at him.

“Or you can go get fucked, you sadistic, raping, son of a bitch”

“What language…” the words were dull, but my scream was enough to make up for it as he dragged the blade across, splitting my skin on my hip from front to back. I let a few tears fall as I bit down on the pain, feeling Izaya’s eyes on me. “How disappointing” he muttered, sighing and licking the blade in a show of monstrosity. “I remember you making a lot more noise” he smirked again. “I could always make you scream” his words hinted at something else, and I growled, louder now. Encouraged by my pain, I punched the bastard, and, unsuspecting, he took it hard, doubling over and cursing as I ran as far away as possible. Of course, without thinking, I’d run in the opposite direction of the mansion… I sighed and winced, touching my hip. I needed to have it looked at… I looked around me, and realized I had no idea where I was. I was preoccupied during the ride, and hadn’t had any time to look around or familiarize myself with the area. I hobbled tiredly over to a bakery, which had opened maybe a minute ago, judging by the tired way they moved, and since only begun to fire up the great ovens… I entered unthreateningly, and asked as pleasantly as I was capable of, if they had a map of the area. One girl, a pleasant-looking one, nodded and smiled shyly at me. I smiled back, glad for their hospitality, and spent a good ten minutes studying the map, before I’d practically memorized it. I thanked them for their hospitality, and felt dizzy as I stood up. I didn’t have very long until I had to be back… I walked out onto the streets and followed the route I’d plotted out in my mind, counting down each road, wanting the familiar streets to be there at each corner. I leant heavily against a pole next to the street, letting my hand relax from the cramped position I’d kept it in the whole time I’d been walking, and I was shocked at the amount of blood I’d lost. The plastic on the side of the bus-stop acted as a mirror, and I only saw a ghost staring back at me. I was so pale… I pressed down on my wound again and pushed onwards. I had about three more streets to go… Three… I heard nothing but the twittering of birds, and the occasional car as I took the shortcut I’d plotted through a park, and I found myself a road away from the mansion. I smiled at the familiarity, and took a step forward. Crunching leaves came from behind me, and my face turned instinctively, only to see Izaya, running at me full speed, with an obvious need for vengeance. I immediately panicked. My one fear… I ran as fast as I could push myself to, all thoughts except that of the mansion gone from my head. My one damned fear… Being chased. I jumped the giant fence and kept plodding onward, each step becoming heavier as I realized I was safe. The familiar sense of adrenaline left my body as I finished wrapping my older scars to the best of my ability as my eyesight began to blur. I had managed to stumble forward up the driveway, but I tripped over- something- before I got to the door, and the pain slowly disappeared as my eyes slid shut, welcoming blackness.
