No explanation, this one must be felt.

I smile and you smile
For the barest second, the briefest moment
Just for awhile
We smile
It’s like this moment or that memory
Like the sweet perfume, the haunting scent
Just like the rose you gave me
Soft petals, the touch I mourn
Dry dew drop, empty sunlit
Pierced, just a single thorn
I smile, you smile
Only this second, not the next
Linger just for awhile
We smile
For a rose
From the briefest moment, torn
The tears are for the thorn

And feel it I did. The power and emotion and feel of this piece are incredible, one of my favourite poems in a long time. Keep writing.

This poem, for me, reverberates with a 'sweet perfume' and a 'haunting scent'. I enjoyed it very much. Thank you. Sonny.
