“Takaru, how are we supposed to find it? There’s nothing here,” said Daichi. The two of them were in a white, misty, open area; unable to see beyond the mist that clouds their vision.
“Not to worry Daichi, I’m sure there is a way to find it,” said Takaru. As they passed through the misty area, a building appeared from the mist. “See, let’s see if it’s in there.”
Takaru quickly hurried up the steps of the building, with Daichi following him. “I’m not sure we should head in,” said Daichi, “I’m getting a strange feeling.”
Before Takaru heard Daichi, he already began knocking on the door. There was silence for a moment, then the doors opened before them. There laid an empty room with nothing but a crystal sphere on a stand in the middle. Takaru took a step inside when a deep voice, cracking with age.
“Why have you come?” said the man walking in. He wore a long white cloak and covered his face with the hood.
“I have come here to save the ones I had lost,” said Takaru. “Please, I ask you to destroy the time when my friends were murdered.”
“Foolish man,” croaked the man, “You do not have the eyes which see the past, nor the blood of those who can. I cannot help such a man.”
Takaru stared hard at the man. Those with the blood have the power see the past? “I must ask then,” he said looking at the man, “Who are you? And where can I find the one who has the blood?”
The man lifted his hood, revealing the face of one who has lived for centuries, one who can never die.
“I am the seeker of this land; I can see all, the past, present, and future. Do not look for her. If you were to find her, then for you I will see a broken man. You will feel pain, suffering, longing, and regret. Are you willing to risk that for the safety of your friends?”
Takaru stared at the floor, thinking. Images of his friends flashed through his mind. Their memories together and the happiness they shared. Then he heard the screams as they were killed. He looked up at the seeker with a determined look. “Yes, I am willing to do anything for my friends.”
“Very well, if you wish to find her, then you must look beyond this world, one that is not familiar to you. You will find her there, but don’t forget what I said. You must not get close to the woman, or your future and the future of the world will be in danger.”
Takaru nodded and walked out of the building. Once he got to the last step, the building disappeared into the mist. Daichi was waiting outside of the castle; he saw the look in Takaru’s eyes and asked, “Are you feeling alright? Did you find out how to save the others?”
Takaru looked at Daichi, then responded, “Yes, but I’m just not sure how.”
