Planet Desolation

The air was cold against his skin as he walked through the thick swampy water. Animals stirred in the background, the voice of the mighty bullfrogs emitted in the empty space that was between the earth and the limitless sky. The consistent noise of the crickets chippering was suddenly broken by the sound of branches crunching under the impact of heavy footsteps.

Out of the thick bushels emerged the hunters, their metal alloy armour blending in perfectly with the sombre environments. Standing waist high in the deep swamp, they searched the swamp, certain the animal had come to this location.

The trio of hunters were the best, Kromoloton the eldest of the three led the team. They had come from planet to planet, wiping out the population of every species. This new species was more cunning than the rest, this planet itself was far more complex than most. Compromising mostly of vegetation rather than large cities, rendering some of their hunting technology useless forcing them to use their most basic instincts.

Kromoloton waded his way through the swamp, feeling for the animal who had been seen running into this swamp. This was a large swamp, the animal could be hiding anywhere. The second in command, Krimloshin cursed out loud, " The animal has evidently evaded us , we must cease wasting our time here and find another prey"

Just as Kromoloton was going to answer there was a stirring in the swamp water, dark twirls began to form the entire swamp area. They aimed their high powered rifles around, the sounds were coming from everywhere, ripples surrounding them completely.

Kromoloton activated his shield as did the others, a blue sphere surrounded them completely, a small humming sound emitted as well but that was the price to pay for ultimate protection. They knew an attack was coming, these animals seemed to have access to a force unknown to them, and it was about to go into action.

Suddenly five new animals rose from the water, standing upon it as though it was solid ground.

These animals were different from all other animals, they stood on their hind legs and rather than flesh and scales or feathers. They had flesh, weak flesh that seemed so fragile. Yet somehow they could stand upon the water as though it were solid ground. Kromoloton fired a highly concentrated round of pulsonic energy, using so much power that his rifle overpowered.

And yet as the mighty projectile approached these new creatures did not move, water suddenly surrounded them becoming a solid shield of solid ice. The ice exploded into a million shards, chunks of ice bouncing off their force fields falling back into the water.

Then they struck, raising their arms a water ball began to form. All the water drained slowly from the swamp, leaving the hunters standing on dry land. Over their hands were giant balls of dirty swamp water. Panic took over Kromoloton, in all his centuries of hunting he had never faced a prey more powerful than himself, nor had he ever imagined such a thing to occur. And yet these animals could manipulate the elements themselves, pressing on the portal teleportation device on his wrist he transported back to the main ship.

Krimloshin was afraid as well but was a true hunter, aiming his rifle again he was about to issue the order to fire when the water came descending upon them like a wave, the impact of the water against their shields made them flare as they disabled.

Water filled their bodies, filling every inch of their large bodies with water. Their three hearts and extra lungs did not help them survive, they sank to the bottom of the swamp now restored to its former state. Everything returned to its peaceful state, the animals resuming their activities as though nothing out of the ordinary had occurred.
