This is a poem I wrote quite some time ago. It was written a short time after the death of my Grandad.

My Grandad
My Grandad- how will I remember him?
Pruning his roses in the garden
I can see him now on his bike or tandem.

My Grandad- how will I remember him?
A man who was quite a character
Who made us smile and was full of laughter.

My Grandad- how will I remember him?
Someone who lived life to the full
Who gave you advice and was helpful.

My Grandad- how will I remember him?
He liked his crosswords; he liked his chess
As a Grandad he was the best.

My Grandad- I will remember him
For all the things I’ve said and more
We’ll meet again someday, I’m sure!

A fitting tribute, I think I have read this one before, It feels familiar. I knew your granddad very well, had respect for him, liked him. I knew a lot about him from my own father and mother. In the 60s, we were always going to the seaside with your grandparents, I would only be a few years old, but I recall him with fondness. A clever man, nice to talk with.

The poem is well written, brimming with affection, and I wonder if he were here now, would things be any different in our lives? I know they would in yours and that is something certain others ought to consider;o)
Love always,
Paul
