Chase walked slowly down the hall, headstrong into the on coming trafic of 7th and 8th graders. "Mr. Frost, my office, now!" Said Mrs.Moore the vice principal of Spring Creek Middle School, "Its about your brother, Scott'. Chase briefly stopped at his locker to put away his social studies books before continuing to the front office. As he walked in he noticed the clock on the wall and knew he would be late for math again today. "yes ma'am?" Chase asked as he walked in and took a seat in the single chair in front of her desk. The woman now directly across from him was blonde, with bright green eyes and a solomn expression on her face. Throughout the school she was known for being strict and almost heartless at times, but today he could tell that had changed. 'Chase.." she had begun to say, but quickly stopped, re-evaluating the following sentence in her mind numberous times. "Chase, there has been an accident. The news arrived during second period.." Chase swiveled in his chair to look at the clock again, it was now 11:34. Second period was two hours ago meaning that the news was obviously less important than home economics. He was wrong. "..Your brother, was admitted to the hospital with extreme burns early this morning. i'm afraid he was pronounced dead at 8:26 this morning."
He was walking fast, nearly running. It had been twenty minutes since he'd heard the worst news of his life. He had imediately dashed out of the room, half schocked, half pissed off that he hadn't been told sooner.Chase ran down the hall, past his locker and out the door at the end of his grades hall. Now he was less than a block from his house, wanting more than anything to be back with his family. His father and mother were waiting for him on the portch of thier two story house. Chase was less than twenty feet away when he saw the first flicker of the fire spread in the window. He opened his mouth to scream a warning to his oblivious parents. As he shouted out, all sound was drowned out by the sudden, deafening, explosion of his entire house being blown apart from the inside out. Chase braced himself as tons of wooden boards and broken glass threw themselves at him. As he leaped sideways narrowly avoiding being crushed by his front door, a large wooden board slammed into the side of his head. The last thing he heard before losing conciousness was the sounds of sirens rushing towards the remains of his home, family, his entire life now reduced to ashes and broken furniture.
