Alhamdulillah! Praise be to Allah, I managed to complete all five of the fard prayers and the sunnah prayers too! I am so proud of myself, especially as I was worried about the Fajr prayer and being able to get up for it. Thanks to Allah, however, I was able to get up (although I was 22 minutes late) and pray with a full heart.
In between prayers, I tidied my bedroom and hoovered it, as well as tidying the living room and placing some Islamic books (and the Quran, naturally!) on the mantelpiece so that I can always have Islam with me. I also cleared off a low table so that my partner and I can eat at that table instead of eating on our laps or in separate chairs. I am hoping that this will bring us closer together as a couple and also teach us to value each other more.
Tidying my room gave me such pleasure and really cleared out my soul too - I know it sounds a bit bonkers but it did! I felt a lot cleaner and a lot happier without all the clutter all over the floor and tables. I have even reclaimed some of my desk! I was tempted to throw open the windows and just let some fresh air in, but the weather isn't really mild enough for me to do that for a long period of time. Still, it was good to get it all clean and I will burn some sage incense later to give it a thorough clean-out! Even though I am a Muslim, I still do some things that benefit me and make me happy, and burning incense is one of those things.
Praying today felt oddly good, almost as if I've been doing it all my life. Prostrating is getting easier, too, although my knees still click and crack at the least opportunity - I think it's one of the things that comes with getting older haha! Honestly, I'm 21 and everything clicks and cracks when you so much as breathe! Still, at least everything works and I haven't lost any limbs, eh? Could be worse, after all. So many of our brothers and sisters are unable to prostrate themselves for prayer, so I am lucky that my knees are in good working order.
I find that as I pray more, it gets easier - I have memorised most of it and I am working hard to memorise al-Fatiha. Insha'Allah I will be able to remember the whole thing soon! Also, because I don't have very much of the Quran memorised, I am praying in English and praying for various people and various things - I remember my brothers and sisters in my prayers always, so insha'Allah Allah remembers them and makes their lives easier.
So, after all that, I am very tired indeed and am looking forward to an evening of relaxing with the television and some homemade stew (and possibly some chocolate too!) - I think I deserve it after all the work I've done!
