I didn't stop until I got to the park. I skidded to a halt near the bushes were I'd decided I was sleeping tonight. I didn't want to scare Corina, but I couldn't sleep there tonight. I crawled into the bushes and curled into a ball, hoping no one would notice the silver fur in the leaves. Ayla was shedding wolf tears as we fell asleep.

I woke up to the warm sun on my fur. I'd somehow managed to stay wolf the whole night. I hadn't expected this. What I'd expected less, though, was the warm body pressed up against mine. I lifted my head to see a gorgeous black wolf snoring lightly next to me. Immediately, my heart began to race. That's why I'd slept so well! Ayla had been in a good mood all night. I also noticed (a bit belatedly) that there was a duffel bag by the other wolf's stomach. I carefully nudged it open and saw clothes, two pairs.

Wow. She's more prepared than I am. I heard a stifled wolf yawn and looked over to see Kora blinking sleep out of her eyes.

I'm what? Again. That voice. I shook my head and looked at the bag. I carefully pulled out the clothes she'd grabbed for me, and tucked them in a bush. Then I nudged the bag towards her and stepped out of the bushes. The jogger who saw my wolf screamed and ran faster, spouting something in french. Ayla gave a chuckle and a quiet bark, which sent him running faster. A moment later, I heard the bushes shift and Corina stepped out.

“They were worried about you, Ayla. They told me to find you. Now they're going to be worried about me.” I nodded, and shimmied into the bush. I quickly phased and dressed, and brushed my hair out of my eyes. I stepped out of the bushes and noticed the black photo album in her hands.

“I hope it was okay to look. I saw your mother. She's a beautiful wolf.” I thought of the wolf my mum was. She was a sandy orange color, very rare in wolves. The only more rare color was silver. The hunters had killed her for her pelt. No one knows what happened to Sapphire Yarrow. Only wolves knew the fate of Rayne.
“Yeah... she was.” she noticed the longing in my voice. Her sparkling wolf eyes filled with concern and her warm hand landed on my shoulder.

“Oh Ember.... I'm so sorry! It hurt to lose her, didn't it?” I nodded as my voice quit and my eyes filled with tears.

“It hurt worse than anything else. It hurt worse than you do.” Immediately, I clapped my hands over my mouth. Shit! Why'd I say that? Ayla growled menacingly at me while Corina sat in complete confusion.

“What?” I stayed silent. I grabbed the little album from her and stood, walked away.

“Ember, wait!” I kept walking. I heard a wolf's voice in my head, Ayla telling me to stop. I heard Kora, telling me to stop. But I was an Alpha, shown my my fur and hair. I stopped for no one.
